A group of US soldiers murdered a number of Afghan civilians and took body parts as trophies, documents released by military officials allege.
Other soldiers were accused of stabbing an Afghan corpse, taking or possessing photographs of casualties and beating other men in an effort to keep them from talking to investigators.

"Morlock claimed Gibbs - the highest ranking soldier accused - planned "scenarios" during which they could kill civilians. For example, Morlock said, if they came across someone in a village that had previously been flagged as having Taliban influence, they could throw a grenade at the civilian and claim they had been responding to a threat. The blackmarket trade of goods (including weapons and drugs) is a staple of the nomads and smugglers that cross those two countries. There's a lot of money to be made and border guards are easily bribed.

Petraeus Says NATO Allowed Taliban Official To Kabul

The commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan, U.S. General David Petraeus, has said NATO-led forces have facilitated the passage of a senior Taliban commander to Kabul to hold talks with the Afghan government. Earlier, U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Washington would do "whatever it takes" to support reconciliation discussions with the Taliban. This year has been the deadliest for international troops in the nine-year Afghan conflict, with at least 40 troops from the NATO-led coalition killed this month alone.

So Afghanistan is going to pot? My girlfriend's brother is over there, and he says it's worse now than it ever was before. He doesn't have good things to say about the US military there either, unfortunately. Apparently he was nearly fired on. It's a bad place to be, dwindling away in the desert with the whole country against you. The poor kids that were shipped to Afghanistan - what a waste.

We need to be out of there......let them take care of themselves, they do not appreciate the help they have, so NATO should move on out ASAP, and let them appreciate their new found freedom, as they let go back to the poppy growers which is probably where Karzai's loyalty lies anyway.
