Discussion: CNN

this may be a stupid question, but the hologram isnt anything that can actually be seen in the studio, is it? it only appears on camera? like stuff on a blue screen?

If it was just there for the camera, why go through all the trouble when you could just superimpose her there?

It was in the studio.

They also did a CGI hologram of the Capitol Building with photos of candidates for senate races as well as a hologram interview of Will-I-Am.

And Will-I-Am directly mentions Star Wars. How very cool.

Oh, WOW! I changed the channel to MSNBC just as she came on. Holy crap!

i dont think thats a stupid question. the way the interviewers were looking in to the camera, it made me wonder too. it actually still makes me wonder.

Well...Star Trek did have the Holo-Deck.

you can see the look in andersons face that he thinks its a gimmick,

a ****ing sweet gimmick!

as Motown marvel mentioned, I don't think the hologram can be seen in the studio. I was watching CNN ALL NIGHT last night and earlier on John King showed a hologram of capitol hill and he DID say "We can't see this but our viewers can" so its not the same hologram we've seen in star wars were people can actually see it face to face.

However its still FREAKIN AWESOME. And I don't know who will.i.am is, heard the name but I never heard his songs or anything...but I LOVE him for making that star wars reference, lol.
And I think practically EVERY male in the united states was thinking star wars..."Help me obi wan kenobi, you're my only hope"

ya, anderson cooper had that kind of "you gotta be ****ing joking me" look on his face.

I do not believe that the holograms could be seen in the studio.

It was just a freaking in camera bluescreen trick! CNN, you are Liars!!! When I want Holograms, I want The Wolf Beard talking to a ghostly image HE can see! whats the point if it's in camera? I want a ghostly humanoid that you can walk 360 around. Anything else is not a Hologram! The point is that the Wolf Beard has to interact with it directly, not act like he is! Thats acting, not "Holy crap, a 3-D image Mark Hamill. I, Wolf Blitzer, directly interacting with a Hologram of Luke Skywalker himself". Big difference CNN! Damn dirty Liars! Man, they suck, can't even use real Holograms, freaking losers....

Now I want real Holograms after this tease!!! booo!!!

now how can they utilize this technology for the porn industry? C'mon people, there's millions waiting to be made...

See, thats why calling it Holograms is nothing but a giant c**k tease gimmick this angers me greatly. They should be sued for libel, the bastards.

It just really isn't in the realm of possibility to project an image into thin air.You could project on some sort of tube of gas or liquid I suppose. But even then using multiple projectors for every angle, you'd end up with a tube of garbled garbage.

The technology as it is could be useful for R&D.If you were working with multiple corporations around the globe.Even then theres an easier and cheaper way to do that ,its called an mpeg.

Porn? Theres an angle button on your remote already.Just get the right porn.

Did anyone see that Jon Stewart played clips of the holograms last night and just said "WHY????" :lmao:

Now imagine watching television shows, reading comic books or playing Mortal Kombat against your friends using Wii type controllers over this hologram technology. Now that would be badass.

CNN's ratings are getting comedic...

CNN's March Ratings So Far: More Lamb than Lion

More evidence that CNN is going to have to find a new strategy fast or risk becoming a cable news also-ran: In the month of March so far, the Time Warner-owned network has come in fourth place in prime time among adults 25 to 54, the key demographic for advertisers, more often than not.
Through March 17, CNN trailed not only Fox News and MSNBC but also its own sister network, Headline News, on nine out of 17 days. On one day, March 13, CNN even drew fewer 25-to-54 viewers than CNBC -- the first time that's happened since November 2007. And of the eight days it finished higher than fourth in the demo, five were either Saturdays or Sundays, typically the lowest rated nights for the news networks.
Asked about the trend, a CNN spokeswoman offered a statement that emphasized the network's long-term ratings growth -- while ignoring the even sharper gains made by Fox News and MSNBC -- and its claim to being No. 1 in total reach. (As I've noted before, that claim is based on CNN's "cume," or cumulative audience, a measure generally considered less important to advertisers.)
CNN is having its best March in prime time among total viewers since 2003 (Iraq war) and its second best March in adults 25-54 (also since 2003/first best 2008). CNN is not blowing with the political winds, but is continuing to grow by providing reliable, respected journalism and we will continue to offer straight forward reporting that includes a broad range of information, opinion and fact. On TV, CNN reaches the most viewers every month, averaging 75.7 million compared to FOX's 61.3 million and MSNBC's 55.8 million. CNN.com averages more than 30 million unique users each month and HLN averages another 52.8 million viewers.
