The party of the president loses seats in the midterms 93% of the time since the 1840s.
The Democrats need to win the popular vote by probably around D+3 to overcome gerrymandering and maintain their majority. In the 2012 presidential election Democrats won the popular vote for the House (D+1.3) but that only translated to 46% of seats in the House. The same problem of the electoral college for the presidency replicates itself in the House.
Unless something crazy (bad or good) happens, we’re most likely losing the House. We just need to make sure it’s not by too much.
The Guardian - US Senate panel close to approving ‘mother of all sanctions’ against Russia

Gizmodo - Anti-Encryption Bill Passes Senate Judiciary Committee
Yeah, not surprised. So does the NSA, the FBI, and every other lettered agency with no right to do so. They will just start it up again and be more careful next time because they don't respect the laws or anyone's privacy.
The Washington Post - Opinion: [Senator] Rick Scott just laid out a Republican agenda. He has done his party no favors.
Mother Jones - Rick Scott's plan to save America is an unhinged, right-wing fever dream
The most frightening part? It’s actually pretty normal for the GOP.
Tampa Bay Times - Scott wants to ‘rescue America’ through Pledge of Allegiance, strict gender roles
Reminder: Trump wants McConnell ousted as Senate Republican Leader. McConnell wanted the RepubliQans to shut up about running on an agenda in 2022 and wanted them to just be generic anti-Democrats to try to win, an approach that works better for the Senate but not the gerrymandered House which is full on crazy town.
There's more Putinists they are just all embarrassed by public opinion right now.

NPR - The 2020 census had big undercounts of Black people, Latinos and Native Americans
NY Times - 2020 Census Undercounted Hispanic, Black and Native American Residents
The Census Bureau said the overall population total of 323 million was accurate but counts of minorities were skewed. Advocacy groups promised to go to court.
That means that 57.8% non-Hispanic white percentage nationally was overcounted for 2020 and it was lower that year (and even lower now).
If it passes and the President signs it, mornings will be darker especially from November to March but if given enough time schedules can be adjusted. More car accidents happening in the mornings will be offset by less car accidents in the evenings. Some energy consumption will be saved. That was what happened before in the 1970s when this was attempted and people panicked and it was repealed.

A lot of them didn't vote to actually help Ukraine though.
Make normal standard time, the time we have November to March, permanent or **** off.
