I think his brother is a year younger, so he's like 75... Maybe they both will die soon. Or maybe just Fidel will die during surgery, and his brother might aim for a change.

At Fidel's age, he's probably little more than a national symbol currently; he's a facial icon for his subordinates who make a lot of the country's decisions which apply to direction and trade or lack of it.

[FONT=Verdana,Arial, Helvetica]The news shot like lightning through the community. Within minutes, Cuban-Americans streamed into Calle Ocho, their historic thoroughfare in Miami. Motorists screamed "Cuba libre!" and waved Cuban flags from sunroofs. Others beat pots and pans, flashed peace signs and took pictures with their cellular phones. Car horns punctuated the din.

The statement -- anticipated for years -- informed Cubans that Fidel Castro had undergone a "complicated surgical procedure" related to intestinal bleeding. He would relinquish power temporarily to his younger brother, Defense Minister Raul Castro, it said.[/FONT]

"I'm praying to God to give us a miracle and let that man die," said Gabriela Burmudez, 64, waving a huge Cuban flag in the middle of the street.



With all the bad news we've been having these past couple of weeks, finally some good news.

One might wonder how life would be today if Eisenhower hadn't ****ed up Iran to maintain US interests back in the '40s.

I've noticed this very odd trend of the US creating its own enemies at every turn. Must be a coincidence.
