Yeah, that article was extremely homophobic and offensive.

Props to Chenoweth, Ryan Murphy, and others who have called him out.

Sexually damaged? He hired a rent boy Walrus, that doesn't make him sexually damaged. It just means he can't find anyone to "Lift his luggage" for him

Possibly because he's not taken good care of his luggage. Time may not have been kind to it. It may be worn, and badly in need of repair:awesome:

Haha. I just think that he isn't necessarily gay, but just enjoys gay sex for some other reason. Normal people don't use escorts unless they are sexually frustrated or unable to pick up a partner.

WRONG....let me stop you right there, my friend

there are plenty of normal people (myself included) who engage the services of escorts (female in my case)....why?? because its easier and a lot more fun

Cheyenne Jackson and Michael Urie spoke up on that article too and made some excellent points.

I don't think Cheyenne has ever been in and he still has a whole legion of female fans that will follow him anyway (and he's so cute) - I saw him when he played Elvis in All Shook Up (a Saturday afternoon of my life I will never get back) and they were screaming like he really was Elvis.

You could say the same thing about Adam Lambert - women throw their bras at him at concerts.

Yeah, there's definitely a valid conversation people...but Ramin wasn't having one. He was targeting. And it was disgusting.

Right. It's my understanding 50% of what a guy pays the woman is for sex, the other 50% is for her to leave afterwards without talking to him about her feelings. :hehe:

Women make up the large majority of Lamberts fan base.

I don't think Cheyenne Jackson has ever even played a gay character. At least not to my knowledge.

something like that...I like the rush I get because I know its "illegal"

I'm not sure if he ever has on stage - but he did play Mark Bingham in the movie United 93, who was the gay rugby player killed on 9/11.

TR Knight would be another example. He came out and all anyone cared about was his crappy storyline with Izzie on Grey's Anatomy.

Victor Garber was totally convincing as Jennifer Garner's dad on Alias.

This thread has taken a very interesting turn...

Victor Garber's gay? Huh, I didnt know that.

Anyway, I think the articles a bunch of BS. If a select group of gay actors arent necessarily good at playing straight, I dont think it's fair to generalize all gay actors as not being able to do it. Hell, it could be a result of the writing or directing too.

Yeah, Victor Garber's gay? Damn, didn't know that. He's been so convicing all this time as straight characters. I love that dude.

John Barrowman is camp as hell in real and he can play a convincing straight guy. As was James Dean and plenty of other actors.

i'm sure there are tons of gay actors most of us don't even realise in movies.

I don't know. Surely there can't be that many sexually frustrated dateless wonders out there? I mean I'm sure that in some cases that's the reason why people employ the services of an escort. But I'm equally sure that plenty of "Normal" people do it as well just for fun

Not that I really think "Normal" has any meaning. It's all subjective at the end of the day. I don't really believe anything is "Abnormal". I just take a live and let live attitude. What people do sexually is up to them. I don't want people telling me what to do, so I extend them the same courtsey

Well, so long as you're both consenting and enjoying yourselves then have at it. :cwink:

Exactly. He's trying to pose this article as how people in general won't accept gay actors in straight roles - but what he's really trying to do is tell gay actors to go back in the closet because he doesn't believe them in the roles they are playing.

There are all kinds of problems with this theory as he's presented it. He doesn't think anyone is buying Sean Hayes as a straight character, but Nathan Lane has been playing all kinds of womanizing straight characters in nearly every musical he's done in the last 15 years.

He's playing Gomez in The Addams Family on Broadway right now, and that show is totally sold out - even though it's apparently terrible - just on the basis of him being in it. He is freaking hilarious on stage, no one cares that he's gay.

I have friends that a huge fans of both Will & Grace and Kristin Chenowith who couldn't wait to see Promises, Promises...they loved the idea of the two of them together on stage. Again, no one cared.

What about David Hyde Pierce? It wasn't really a surprise to anyone when he finally came out, but everyone loved him chasing after Daphne on Fraiser for seven years. He's played straight roles on stage - and he won a Tony for it.

The article is just crap. We're not going to know what will happen when a big movie star comes out of the closet until it actually happens. And when it does, I don't think we need this idiot telling them how to run their careers.

It all boils down to the fact that it's harder to forget about certain things with certain people than it is with others.

something like that...I like the rush I get because I know its "illegal"

"I don't understand why prostitution is illegal. Selling is legal. ****ing is legal. Why isn't selling ****ing legal? You know, why should it be illegal to sell something that's perfectly legal to give away? I can't follow the logic on that one at all! Of all the things you can do, giving someone an orgasm is hardly the worst thing in the world. In the army they give you a medal for spraying napalm on people! In civilian life you go to jail for giving someone an orgasm!"

I'm in total agreement with this guy, I can't see past to actor when I watch a TV show or movie. How can I believe Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, when I know damn well he isn't actually a superhero, the illusion is not there. Keifer Sutherland hasn't tortured one terrorist in real life, but every week Fox is asking me to believe he really does? Please, Fox Keifer can't play a government agent, because he's simply not a government agent in real life. Don't even get me started on the Lost cast, asking me to believe they're actually lost on an island... That's why I only watch reality TV because at least then the people are playing themselves and I don't have to look past the actor's real life to see a character.

Carlin is one of my role models, both as an entertainer and politically as well.

If I had George Bush as my husband and Jenna and Barbara as my daughters, I'd be redefining my position on marriage and abortion too.

Interesting. I stand corrected.

This. What two adults do should be up to them.

Honestly no surprise. Not in the white house anymore, and thus can be more honest. I fathom a number of conservative politicos (and/or family members) are more socially liberal than they let on. But for career reasons lie and/or keep it under wraps.

Laura Bush, is actually suprisingly liberal, at least on a social level.

Why her daughters? damn, what did they do to you?

From what I can see they have grown into young ladies that are giving back to their communities, etc....

As far as George? Well, that is a whole other story...but I respect Laura Bush A LOT, and I have to think that the man has something going for him...for her to love him...that gives him a slight big of respectability in my eyes. Well, and the fact that he gave me the largest teacher increase in salary when he was Governor of Texas....in my 19 years of teaching...

And our political frustration is matched only by Rush Limbaugh's sexual frustration...
