US News
You sure you should even be teasing our political system? You know given how profoundly superior it is to your mess? :funny:
I'm still in shock how the Liberals screwed up and have to depend on the New Dems for votes. Also the Liberals leader did brown face and now works with Jagmeet Singh and depends on his party's votes.

Justin's personal failings aside, minority governments and coalitions are a normal part of healthy parliamentary systems with more than two political parties.

This is a good thing. It helps prevent situations like the US in 2016 where a party that didn't win the popular vote gains absolute control of the government.

The Liberals Party under Justin has done some stupid stuff, but the great part about our system is that it has prevented those mistakes from resulting the Conservatives gaining control of the government.

Whereas in your system, when a Dem leader disappoints his voters on issues like Gaza, it causes those voters to not turn out and potentially hand victory to the Republicans, in our system, those voter will typically vote for the NDP in protest, which often just causes a minority government and power sharing between our two left of centre parties.

The possibility of minority governments also helps reduce the potential of a Conservative government undoing all progress when the pendulum swings back their way. Harper was in power for almost 10 years, but 6 of those years was a minority government where he was forced to govern from the Centre because voters didn't trust him enough to give him a majority.

Trudeau miscalculated his party's popularity and tried to consolidate more power, so he wouldn't need to work with the NDP, and ended up doing the opposite was my point.

White Women
2008: (CNN website page archive currently not functioning)
2010: (CNN website page archive currently not functioning)
2012: 56% (R+14)
2014: 56% (R+14)
2016: 52% (R+9)
2018: 49% (tie)
2020: 55% (R+11)
2022: 53% (R+8)

Even after the Dobbs decision, the majority of white female voters were like, 'more of where that came from'. They may vote for legal abortion and body rights on the ballot, but they keep voting for the people taking it away.

I still can't believe Andrew Gillum was not only an addict, but a fraudster who was probably a fake progressive like Krysten Sinema.

Florida is deep Red. The Dems have lost it for the time being. We just need to wait for DeSantis's crap policies to negatively effect the state.
And for all of the Boomers and some of Gen X to get too old and/or die off.

It took Democrats leading the national House popular vote by almost nine points in 2018 just to make Florida essentially a competitive 50/50 state like the open contest between Gillum and DeSantis.

Biden leading by 4 points just made Florida a Trump+3 state.

Republicans leading the House popular vote by 3 points in 2022 resulted in a 19 point DeSantis win.

Dems have a S*** organization in FL. Put some goddamn time and money into building it. The issues are there. It's a matter of not being stupid. I lived for quite a while in an area with a lot of Cuban immigrants. Generally speaking, they are very conservative, and frankly, scary. I had a huge crush on Marlena, but her brothers put an end to that. The consequences were likely.......extreme.
