As a pundit he really embarrassed himself during the early years of Covid19.

Moreover now he has two big conflicts of interest: 1) He’s employed by a gambling website Polymarket and telling people how to bet 2) That gambling website is owned/invested in by Trump supporter and JD Vance financier Peter Thiel.

McConnell Warns It'd Be 'Politically Beyond Stupid' To Shut Down Government Before Election

Speaking to reporters inside the U.S. Capitol, McConnell warned that his party would be held responsible in the event that the government shuts down, suggesting Republicans could draw backlash from voters in November.

"My only observation about this whole discussion is the one thing you cannot have is a government shutdown," he said. "It would be politically beyond stupid for us to do that right before the election, because certainly we'd get the blame."

"I'm for whatever avoids a government shutdown and that'll ultimately end up obviously being a discussion between the [Senate] Democratic leader and the speaker of the House," McConnell continued.

Trump definitely believes in the "any publicity is good publicity" mantra
He sounds insane, but in his mind, at least everyone's been talking about him and only him again for the past week
which is an improvement, in his calculations, from when everyone was talking about Kamala for the past month

As stupid as that story is, and as much danger as it's bringing to the city of Springfield, the best thing to do is ignore it and go back to talking about Harris and Walz

My brother in law is Cuban, and I'm reminded often of how little unity there is between different groups of latinos, they all talk so much s*** about each other

There's truth to both of your statements. My mom's side of the family is from Mexico (father is Irish, but he never looked twice at a white woman LOL) so I grew up in that culture in SoCal and it's definitely not a monolithic group. My father worked for CalTrans, was a union steward, and pretty progressive, but there was a very strong, conservative, religious strain in the community. There was also a lot of pride in our heritage, but it took a lot of different directions politically and many had that "we have to be careful who we let in because most of 'them' might screw things up for everybody".

Not to overgeneralize, but the Cuban culture is a completely different ball of spilled milk. I started to date one of my high school classmates who was Cuban......until her brothers met me. I wasn't good enough for her, came to the conclusion that I wanted to live, and decided the "relationship" should be put on indefinite hold. VERY conservative and just as scary.

While Trump likes any attention and it does put him in the spotlight, I don't know that this stuff is helping him in an environment where just about everyone has made up their minds. His waffling on abortion could easily hurt him; not so much by having people vote for Harris, but by slightly depressing his own turnout. We'll see, but I don't see a lot of Harris supporters jumping over to Trump without some significant issue hitting the fan (mainly thinking Gaza or Russia incidents).

Yeah, I don't see any Harris supporters jumping ship because of it.

But I feel like him being out of the spotlight for a few weeks was helping to demoralize him, and more importantly his base, including the neo-nazis who started questioning his campaign. But now they might be re-energized with him getting attention for a new racist conspiracy.

Anything we can do to make his campaign fizzle is a positive
