I’m a hetero white male so I’m probably fine. Then again I’ve also been outspokenly liberal in the newspaper for twenty years so hopefully won’t get beaten up. That’s probably just my neuroticism talking.

I’m personally concerned about Trump and Kennedy ruining healthcare as well as his dumb **** high tariffs/trade wars that cannot be won because the U.S. is only 4% of the world and the 96% can bite back among many other things. There are also many things that as a straight white guy I don’t have to personally fear but I do for others in my life and outside it.

Thing is rural republicans couldnt care less about any of that, and they came out in record numbers yesterday, all they care about is religion and guns, while democrats stayed home, either out of fear or intimadation, i read this morning we made it 248 years as a free democracy but will not make it to 249, our founding fathers would be absolutely ashamed of what we have become.
I worry most about my mom who relies on social security and medicare, as do millions of americans, including those who just voted for Trump, i hope they understand the nightmare they just unleashed on us and the world, if you are an allie of this country, dont count on the US any longer, Trump will give a greenlight to Isreal and Russia, that might not matter to rural voters which clearly it doesnt, i also fear we just set womans rights back 200 years, how many young women are now scared because we just elected the worst human being this country has ever put fourth and once again he defeated another woman, what does that say about us as a people.

I may need to have a serious conversation with my wife about moving to Canada. I can't do this again.

I wish I had the money and resources to move to another country. I'd have to worry about transporting 3 cats, a gecko, all my belongings, and figuring out what to do with my aging mother. What would I even work as in another country? I'm an English Teacher here in the US, would some place like Scotland really be hard on needing teachers?

I am just so distraught.

Well, one silver lining I can glean from all of this is that when MAGA replaces everyone that they can with their own people and implement everything they want to and things still go to s**t over the next four years, they will have a much, much harder time blaming the “Deep State” or finding some other scapegoat to pin every single bad thing on, due to having full control. If not that, then they will at least look super incompetent for not being able to stop, solve and/or do anything about anything or the “Deep State” and completely obliterate the party’s image, which hopefully leads to our bipartisan system and current parties to eventually be thrown out and replaced/reformed with something better.

At least, that’s what I hope happens.

I'm also concerned about the millions of folks that are currently living off of social security income. From what I've read online, Trump's plans will likely have a big negative impact on those funds. I wouldn't be surprised at this point if his cult tries to threaten the general public and congress into keeping Trump on as President after his second term expires.

Whether you live by faith or not, I feel like this country is going to need a lot of prayer going forward.

My husband is supposed to start Social Security in February, so he's grandfathered in. I'm four years younger and now I wonder if I will be able to collect at all before I die.

The things I really want to say right now will probably get me banned but I do have this one thing -- when it all goes to ****, America, remember YOU voted for this *******.

I just realized that I'll be 40 by the time we hopefully get a new President that isn't Donald Trump.

On another note, I think it'll be best to stay away from the news outlets for awhile. The last thing that I need is to watch Trump and his party gloat about this victory.

What do you even do as a human being with this?
As someone who has been taught to be kind, have empathy, do the right thing, dont lie etc?
Seeing the opposite being validated...i struggle to cope with that as a person.

How can the worst what humanity has to offer, win?
Trump ran on lies and insults, his people ran on that...and they got rewarded for it.
Elon Musk did everything to stifle opposition on twitter, he was a mean bully and all that...and he won?

Im struggling here with my whole being to deal with that fact.

I feel the same way. Never thought I'd see my country fall in real time.
