Nope, I read it. It said the UN is forcasting that 2008 is going to be a cooler year. And the Global Temp hasn't risen in over 10 years. Did you read it?

yeah, I read the part where the actual scientists that predicts this " cooler year" says the temperature is still " well above average for the century" :csad:  you must've missed that.

It says that 1998's Global Temperature is above average for the century, not current temp. Are you SURE you read it?

hahahahaha! yeah.
are YOU sure?

A small number of scientists doubt whether this means global warming has peaked and the Earth has proved more resilient to greenhouse gases than predicted, but Jarraud insists this is not the case and notes that 1998 temperatures would still be well above average for the century.
"When you look at climate change you should not look at any particular year," he told the BBC. "You should look at trends over a pretty long period and the trend of temperature globally is still very much indicative of warming."

notice the " the trend of temperature globally is still very much indicative of warming"
which I thought was key and the "A small number of scientists doubt whether this means global warming has peaked and the Earth has proved more resilient to greenhouse gases than predicted, but Jarraud insists this is not the case"

which I also thought was important.

If what you posted is true Memphis Slim and they plan on charging the American people for every bag whether it's paper or plastic...they better hire more bag boys.

If that truely does go into effect I'm making those c*** suckers walk every item I buy at the grocery store to my car. I'll refuse the bags and demand they take the time to hand lift all of it to my car. That's preposterous.

Oh yeah! Don't forget about all the wasted food at restaurants since they won't be allowed to use the containers as doggy bags anymore.

couldn't you feasible buy a couple of canvas bags that you could reuse the hell out of?

This is only in Seattle, and they plan on given everyone one "free" (i.e. Taxpayer funded) Cavas bag.

For food??

The main point of my little rant was I'm sick of our government putting things over the people without our vote or say so. This country was supposed to be about "We the people", it's sad that that never really lasted.

In short, it's bull s*** that they might force this one on us, and as always..."it's for our own good".:whatever:

I think no plastic bags is a little dumb...a bit too far too soon. But recycling should be pushed harder or even set into law. There is nothing wrong or bad with recycling and it sure has a lot of benefits.

I think recycling is great and I do it all the time. Only thing I don't agree with is setting it to law. I don't think it should be forced on people.

I'm not making fun of you man, I just think you're making a bigger deal out of this than it is.
first of all, it is a proposal, which won;t likely pass.
there was a proposal in Texas to make dog ****ing legal.
doesn't mean any of these crackpot things are likely to come to pass.
( they could though ) bu just chill out, the government right now, controls your life more than you know.

With all the garbage floating in the sea, us filling up landfills rapidly, etc...something needs to be done. Acting into it as law is certainly the last straw but something needs to be done. The States need to set up more centers possibly funded by the federal government and have recycling cans on every street or every other house, etc... I think my town of nearly half a million people has 3 recycling centers with no pick up. That deters people from recycling.

Mattress Tags Removal Laws are for the Manufacturer and Retailer of Mattresses, not Consumers. It is for Consumer Awarness of the Product. you should have known better Sparky.

But for Consumer awareness. Once you purchase the matteress it's yours, and you can tear it off with at your hearts content. Whats the problem with knowing what you purchase?

no problem, my argument is that far more stupid things are "law"

^It was once illegal in Pennsylvania for a babysitter to eat the entire contents of the fridge of the clients house.

It is illegal to spit on the sidewalk here in Texas.

Most stupid laws are state laws and nobody really enforces them.

No...you do not extort money from your citizens especialy on a issue that has not been proven.........ON AND ISSUE THAT IS STILL BEING DEBATED!

(But not by Al Gore) :hehe:

they actually do that in my town. we have plastic bins that you put out on the curb on the collection day. we have a bin for paper and cardboard, a bin for glass and a bin for plastic. we also compost organic waste. funny thing is that after implementing this system the collection people started complaining to the council that there was too much to collect, since more people wanted to recycle that they expected..

Why exactly will Al Gore NOT debate global warming? If he's so certain that the matter is settled, then he should be able to defeat any opposition they pair him up against. After all, he is Mr. Green*, right?

*Although, I think the green he cares about is "legal tender."

What's with you guys and your hard-ons for Al Gore? The dude isn't a scientist, and I wouldn't call him an expert. At all. His movie and lectures are compilations of data and information from other people. The thing is, he never pretends otherwise.

Seriously, it's disturbing how you guys obsess over him. You should both have a three-way with Gore and get it over with.

Hey, there's an idea to help cool down the world: Snowballing with Al Gore! Go for it. You know you want to.
