Try living in the UK in the last two months we have has Snow, Rain, Sunshine

He must be in Florida then. Florida is the real hell.

dude it was like Africa hot yesterday!!! I swore I was gonna die of a heat stroke (I had to work a lunch out at a tent). I was all around trying to find water or even a soda (which would not have been very hydrating). So finally I jacked a pitcher of iced tea. One of the executive sous chefs walked by and asked who got it for me. I said "I did. I'd very much not like to die of dehydration today." He replied "dam Foobie your such a little thief!"

But for real...it was wicked hot yesterday.

the weather is more screwy than i've ever known it to be. at least a couple of years ago it was consistent. now it's sporadic.

"demonstrably wrong" "fail to replicate storms with any kind of fidelity." that's pretty harsh critisism in scientific circles.

Global Warming is coming to eat you!

It's been below average more often than not here in Chicago lately, when's this global warming you speak of going to kick in. The past two days the weather report has included wind chill! It's f'ing mid-May!

"Global Cooling is coming to eat you!" That's what I should have said.

The weather has been terribly cold where I am. Not only did we endure a record breaking winter in terms of snow fall but now it just won't warm up. It is Mat 20th and right now I am inside with the windows closed and am wearing sweatpants, sweatshirt, and a wool cap.

I am by no means a sissy when it comes to dealing with the cold, but this is horrible. Usually we are steady in the mid to low 70's this time of year, we're barely cracking 60 now!

Global warming my ass!

Al Gore: Hypocrisy is his Inconvenient Truth

http://tennesseepolicy.org/main/article.php?article_id=764

That's right, after "greening" his Belle Meade mansion in Nashville (which he only did after this group publicized his energy usage last year--in all fairness, he did have to get the zoning regs changed to allow it), he STILL manages to increase his kilowatt usage by 10% in 2007 over 2006.

So, the guy who tells you that you need to sacrifice and use less is still using 20 times the electricity of the average U.S. household (in this mansion, alone--he has several more).

But, hey, as long as he's rich enough to buy carbon offsets, why should he have to really sacrifice? :whatever:

Note: This post is about Al Gore the Hypocrite and Al Gore, alone. It is not an attack on Global Warming, so don't try and reframe it as such.

Just remember, even though the hippies are wrong about why we should clean things up, they are right about things needing to be cleaned up. We need new fuel and energy sources, that is true. We need to be more renewable about our waste disposals. Composting can cut down on land fill material, and Recycling can extend the life of many materials so they don't wind up taking up space a person could use for housing. Animal treatment needs to be re-examined. Not necessarily the conditions the animals are raised in, but the manner their corpses are handled in and the chemical injected into them. Children are going through puberty at earlier and earlier times.

A good idea that "Green" folk don't like to talk about, is nuclear energy.

I believe Global Warming and Global Cooling is a natural phenominon and is anything we do is a drop in the bucket. Really.

Just look at the temperature charts over the last 1000 years, a thousand years ago the average temperature was just as high as it is today.

Its a cycle.

If anything we should be worried about when the next Global Cooling will take place as the Ice Age could be starting with in the next couple hundred to 1000 years.
They are natural as our Earth has undergone periods of heating and cooling. Ice Ages are brought on by heating of our planet through increased amounts of carbon in the atmosphere or unnatural phoenomenons like a comet striking the Eart. So yes, we will have another Ice Age but can we do something to prevent it? We are increasing the carbon in the atmosphere from pollution, burning fossil fuels, and utilizing forests filled with trees that convert the carbon dioxide into oxygen and the temperatures have risen a few degrees since the Industrial Revolution as seen by Arctic ice core samples. Why would we want to live through another Ice Age. Million, possibly billions of people and animals would die or become extinct? So why not play it safe and try to prevent an Ice Age by reducing our carbon emissions?

So...if this post isn't about global warming...why exactly is it in this thread, again?

Where I live, I don't see a lot of Global Warming here, it is already past the middle of June and we have only had 1 or 2 days that have hit 17 -20 degrees Celcius.

I think that what people are doing is helping, but I think that Governments need a "cause" to look after, and I think Global Warming with the 90's - 2000's cause.

I think it's a bit full headed of Americans to think that their burning of fossil fuels is affecting the globe on such a scale. Has increase in civilization and industrialization increased greenhouse gas. Yes. Is it on such a scale that people should be told how much energy they can use. No.

Until Nancy and Al start curbing their energy use I won't do **** about mine. And those new light bulbs with mercury. **** those.

No offense to Americans...but a majority of Americans think their **** doesn't stink....which trust me, it does.

No I agree. I was trying to say I think, even as an American, it's pompous for us to think we have such an impact on this planet that we alone can destroy it with our greenhouse gases. I mean look at up and coming industrialists like China. That said. I love it here. I love my freedoms. I would never want to live anywhere else. People take what we have in America for granted no doubt. Always *****ing when it's really quite a good place to live. No argument here though. Cheers.

What is with this bash on America? You know, just saying "No offense" doesn't negate the offensiveness of what you said.
