Discussion: Global Warming, Emission Standards, and Other Environmental Issues - Part 1

I was at dad’s place a few days ago and of course he was watching Fox News. The anchor was gleeful over the right wing elections in Europe, saying the Europeans were sick of environmentalism killing jobs and masses of immigrants.

I really didn’t even know what to do with that information. I thought that Europe was so ahead of us in regards to environmentalism. I just wanted to give up and watch the world die as Republicans loved their money.

The right is winning in Europe out of protest votes, because the mainstream parties don't care about the people.

Macron, for example, has a 26% approval rating. That's even worse than Biden and Trump. And French people have every reason to hate him.

That’s what I wish that I could explain to people. They don’t want to spend money on green policies but they don’t understand how climate change will impact the economy in the future. They worry about our financial future but not about agriculture, water quality, climate refugees and international unrest. But at least their taxes didn’t get raised.

It's easier for people to think about the now instead of t&e future, but that bill will come due. :(

But at least the older generation looked out for them financially and that’s what matters.
