Bloomberg News - US Faces a Deficit of 6 Million Workers in Less Than a Decade

  • Population seen growing at much faster pace than workforce
  • Mismatch between change in labor force and jobs in high demand
US employers will confront a shortage of some 6 million workers within a decade, according to a new study.

A combination of retirements, mismatches between workers and available jobs, and a decline in workforce participation among men is set to drive the gap, according to by Lightcast, a provider of labor market data. Based on expected growth in the population, it projects a 6 million shortfall of workers by 2032 compared with the current level.

Capitalists don’t want to pay for job training programs and they put high requirements for degrees and years of experience to shut people out.

They don't want to pay for ANYTHING. What they really want to do is socialize the costs and privatize the profits. This anti-immigration But****it is just fear mongering in order to gain power. Once the corporations need labor, they'll be more than happy to bring people into the country......hopefully hard workers who don't demand much compensation.

So the union leaders are conservative capitalists who support Trump or do the members support him as well?
I think a majority of their members support Harris, but the Teamsters President supports Trump.

The Teamsters (while not a monolith) rank and file can be a bit of an odd breed. A lot of them seem to be living in the past. I think I read that leadership wanted to support Harris, but rank and file had different ideas and generally favored Trump. How a union member could support that guy baffles me. He's SO pro management and would cut their legs out from underneath them without a second thought. My guess is that a lot of these GUYS just prefer and old, white guy, over a woman of color. Yeah.....bigots.

"Leadership" (so to speak and meaning their top guy) are rather mealy mouthed, but basically on the right side. They need to pander to their membership rather than lead. Kinda like some congressional repubs IMO.

Maybe I'm being a little hard on them, but I find their actions disappointing as opposed to, say, CWA or UAW. Biden bailed their asses out then they can't even issue an endorsement? EFF 'em and as a loooooooong time union member, activist, steward, officer, contract negotiator, etc. I hate to say that.

I'm kinda pissed at them.....

I read that a majority of members wanted to endorse Trump. Some of the large locals dissed the International Union and endorsed Harris. The Teamsters are huge. We never had that problem in CWA. The national leadership was always on the right side of the coin.

The Hill reported that a poll showed more members supported Trump than Harris, but Biden led Trump. I don't know what else to call it other than sexist ideology and/or bigotry.

So is it leadership or some chapters that want Trump?
