I don't know a whole lot about the upcoming film as I try to avoid spoilers for all movies as best I can (might as well let the movie tell the story) but I saw the preview and do you know what I saw? Sin City.
Now I am indeed a big fan of Sin City, the movie and the graphic novel. But this is not Sin City. And now I am coming to realize something about Frank Miller: EVERYTHING he does has uses the same voice, the same narration... From the Dark Night Returns to All Star Batman and Robin to Sin City and now the Spirit.
It fits into the Noir style but it's just filled with such stupid Frank Miller lines like, "My city. I cannot deny her. My city screams. She is my mother." Jeez... It seems almost boring, like we already saw this movie a dozen times but now it has a different title.
And the over-the-top craziness of Sin City is even a major part of the new movie. The characters that are really unrealistic, strange, and unique all at the same time. Sin City's whole cast is pretty much made up of characters like this and now we can already see it again with Samuel L. Jackson's samurai character and some of the females featured in the 2nd trailer...
So what do you guys think? Is it going to be a boring Sin City imitation or is there a brighter side to things that you are looking forward to? What do you think about the Miller version of the Spirit as a whole?
