It doesn’t seem like any of the strategies they used are outright illegal. Unless they’re openly breaking the law, I don’t see anything wrong with taking advantage of the loopholes that currently exist. If you feel you owe more tax than the current tax law states, then by all means write that check to the IRS…

Business Insider - Stimulus checks were wildly popular with Americans — but Biden's expanded child tax credit payments just aren't

It's good policy to make it easier to be a parent by choice but most people aren't parents and the birth rate is shrinking so those don't care. (67% of all 2020 voters had no children according to the exit poll.)

Robber baron Elon Musk took all the money and then complains people don't have kids anymore and opposes government financial relief for society.

CNBC - Elon Musk says ‘civilization is going to crumble’ if people don’t have more children

It's the same problem with getting people to really care about student loan debt as well when 15% of the adult population (2017) has student debt. And the best way to deal with that would be reform through law, not an executive order that a next President could rescind or the Supreme Court could if not will invalidate (just like the eviction moratorium).

Yeah I agree, these things need to be reformed through law, not executive order.

Sounds like a PR ploy. If they really wanted it to happen, they could just put pressure on their donees in Congress.

If they want pay more, why not just write a check to the IRS? I’m sure they won’t mind.

Maybe we should stop allowing the 1% to determine our tax policy?

Musk just doesn’t seem to care about the rules. Every year we are reminded how serious insider trading is and he takes the absolute piss. When you’re trading such large amounts (enough to get a seat on the board of Twitter with one group of investments) and are that rich and have as many expert advisers as he will have, you have no excuse to not know what you’re doing.
