🇺🇸 Discussion: The DEMOCRATIC P - Part 3

US News
Crazy how half the country is protecting what the other half is abolishing. We are a schizophrenic place.

Literally history repeating itself. Just waiting for the new Fugitive Slave Act.

USA Today - The best and worst states to live in 2023 include Texas, Vermont: CNBC
CNBC allots 350 possible points to each state, measuring categories such as per capita crime rates, environmental quality, health care and worker protections.

The research also examines anti-discrimination laws, voting rights and access to childcare. Surveys indicate a large percentage of women consider reproductive rights in deciding where they are willing to live and work, so CNBC includes abortion laws in this category.

Best:
  1. Vermont
  2. Maine
  3. New Jersey
  4. Minnesota
  5. Hawaii
  6. Oregon
  7. Washington
  8. Massachusetts and Colorado (tie)
  9. Connecticut

I'm kinda hoping RFK will run as an independent in the general election to peel off voters from the GOP, since those are the only voters he seems to be appealing to anyways.

That would be fine as I don't see him having any impact on Biden's run. :)

Member of ‘Tennessee Three’ set to challenge Marsha Blackburn for her Senate seat

She MIGHT have a shot against Birds Nest Blackburn, who only won her seat by 10 points (TN is R+28) in 2018. Keep in mind people are still moving to TN, like Nashville is up there with Austin in terms of population growth. And it's gotten bluer over the past six years.

The publicity the trio got nationally and statewide hopefully will energize young TN voters to register, jump in, vote and canvass for her.

I wish her luck. :)

Yeah. Blackburn has done nothing to moderate her image to her constituents and goes off on culture war tangents. If she gets unseated, it’s going to be a TIGHT margin for sure.

But if Obama won Indiana in 2008…

The Hill - Fetterman recaps six months in Congress: ‘Fixation on a lot of dumb s—‘
“The fact that we’re playing with something like [a debt ceiling] is antithetical to the stability of our democracy,” [Fetterman] argued, calling everyone in Washington “cynical.” “But we can fight for things that are meaningful,” Fetterman said, adding, “We’re fighting for women’s reproductive freedom, making sure we have resources and support our unions. I’m going to fight for what’s really important.”
