Politico - Feinstein's condition sparks concern she won’t return to the Senate
People in touch with the veteran Democratic senator say her shingles diagnosis has taken a heavy toll.

JUST FING RESIGN!!!!! If you're a public servant, you're supposed to serve the public. Geeze....

If she doesn't serve out her term, can you even IMAGINE how weird the senate appointment by the governor will be? :funny: He'll basically be appointing the next elected senator. If I were him, I would appoint someone who guaranteed they wouldn't run in 24......aw......who the hell am I kidding? I'd appoint Katie Porter.

When you are holding up judicial appointments, can't do your damn job, and only have about a year and a half left in your term, do what's best for the country and step the EFF aside. The Fetterman case, for example, is a completely different deal.

Feinstein is ~90 years old, has symptoms of cognitive decline according to friendly colleagues, and is suffering from debilitating shingles that she cannot travel to Washington for her job for an unspecified amount of time. People at the least should have some questions and gender doesn't and shouldn't shield you from that. Elected officials don't have to die in office because they choose not to ever retire.

In this case it's the governor's prerogative (Democratic governor) to choose a replacement senator until the next election (2024) is held in a state that trends towards Democrats statewide so people feel safe calling for Feinstein's retirement. That is really the political factor here, not gender.

Agreed. Maybe there should be age limits, you know? Like 85 or something. Doesn't have to be low like 65 or anything.....

They should investigate. This was just wrong.

Of course they do. They want to gum up judicial seating even longer than they could otherwise.

Rebecca Katz: "In her first Q as an I, Sinema raised a lot less money than almost anyone thought she would while also only raising just $5,500 from small-dollar donors Meanwhile, Gallego [D-AZ] raised $3.7m from >100K donations & 98% of donors are small-dollar donors who chipped in less than $100 :hmm"

Sam Stein: "Sinema outraised by Gallego. Among her donors
More than $280,000 from employees of Blackstone
$196,000 from employees of the Carlyle Group,
Anthony Scaramucci gave her $3,300
No Labels gave $10,000 "

Why does how much money you raise somehow qualify you to run for office? Trump raised tons of money and he was awful. :(
