🇺🇸 Discussion: The DEMOCRATIC P - Part 3

Adams, officials rally for NYC's bid to host DNC in 2024

I'm gonna take a guess and say that Adams is in it for the grift.

Despite Hochul being a weaker candidate for governor in NY (Hochul+6) in 2022 compared to her predecessor, let's try winning & holding more divided states than NY (Biden+23) from 2020 in 2024.

2020: Trump 232 EVs
Iowa: 6 EVs (Trump+8.2)
Ohio: 18 EVs (Trump+8.0)
Texas: 38 EVs (Trump+5.8)
Florida: 29 EVs (Trump+3.4)
North Carolina: 15 EVs (Trump+1.3)

Georgia: 16 EVs (Biden+0.2)
Arizona: 11 EVs (Biden+0.3)
Wisconsin: 10 EVs (Biden+0.6)
Pennsylvania: 20 EVs (Biden+1.2)
Nevada: 6 EVs (Biden+2.4)
Michigan: 16 EVs (Biden+2.8)
Minnesota: 10 EVs (Biden+7.1)
New Hampshire: 4 EVs (Biden+7.4)
2020: Biden 306 EVs

What I'd want to do is at least flip North Carolina to cancel out any 16 EVs worth of losses of other states. Also some states have now gained and lost electoral votes due to the 2020 census and reapportionment, Pennsylvania has lost an EV and North Carolina has gained one going from 15 to 16.

Daily Kos - Daily Kos is helping North Carolina Democrats prep for 2024. Here's why

Where is the national Democractic party? Why are they so damn silent on these actions against their party members and trans people on the whole?

The DNC, like most in the media, tend to ignore the lower levels of government.

Especially in red states.

I’m heartened by the UNC students protesting Mike Pence’s visit earlier today.

Um, Nicolle Wallace covered it extensively on MSNBC but it hadn’t made non-cable national news the way the Tennessee Three did.

What are you even saying? You realize she's a TV pundit right?

I’m talking about local broadcast news. Not everyone has cable.

My NBC affiliate station did not cover the expulsion of the Montana trans legislator. Nor did my Disney owned ABC station.

How does this change the party's inaction? Are you a part of the party apparatus?

If you want to complain about inaction, take it up with Disney and Comcast. As far as I’m concerned, the MT Rs censuring and banning the trans legislator from the floor should get the kind of coverage the Tennessee Three did.

Take your snark elsewhere.

Are you saying it's the job of the media and not the Democratic party to be getting out in front of this and leading?

If the party can't get the voters motivated then, yeah. :(

Kamala Harris went down to TN after they were booted. Is Kamala Harris flying out to Montana for this legislator when the supermajority did something about as bad?

There is valid criticism in them jumping on what was happening in Tennessee, but not as loud as what is happening in Montana.

I really don't get why Tennessee got the louder shout, other than thinking gun reform is more important to voters than trans rights, and therefore more worthy of protest when there was pushback. :(

This would be sweet but I don't see Republicans allowing this kind of kindness.

The sad thing is that MSM chase stories that will get them clicks or audience eyeballs. Something like turn coat Tricia Cotham switching parties in NC (and giving state Rs a supermajority) or racially motivated expulsion of two Black legislators in TN is more explosive than MT legislators unfairly censuring a white trans woman (but allowing her to still cast votes and participate remotely).

But we're not forgetting what's happening across the country -- I hope the student demonstrators are the ones that stepped up like suburban women did in 2017 and beyond. We can't expect the DNC to swoop in and help fund every state race next year, so potential races that could flip will take fundraising and good old GOTV effort.
