I couldn't even begin to choose between them, but I thought it would make for a good thread.

Renaissance, because The Rescuers Down Under was the first animated film without songs and as a musical. That was the best thing Disney ever started, because I hate musicals!!!

There's a certain exuberance to the Disney Renaissance that I really didn't feel from the Disney Classics era or even the Pixar era. I really appreciated the animators' work in the Disney Renaissance (especially their stunning work in Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King), the taut storytelling, and most of the songs were catchy and spirited.

Pixar is a class of its own, but to compare it to the Disney Renaissance is just unfair.

most hypers were probably kids during Renaissance

I think I might actually be leaning towards Pixar, just because the first Toy Story was so ****ing life changing for me.

No contest- Disney Renaissance. I'm hoping for the day that Disney can capture the same spirit and energy they had during this period.

Classic.

Snow White
Pinnocchio
Cinderella
Sleeping Beauty
Dumbo
Peter Pan
Alice in Wonderland
Jungle Book
Lady and the Tramp
The Aristocats
The Rescuers

That's literally off the top of my head. No google/wikki.

Classic cartoons are classic.

Most of those don't stand the test of time imo. Their really boring now.

Well, that's simply not true. :o

Snow White:Classic
Pinnocchio:Classic
Cinderella:This story is so outdated now since we seen done time after time and sometimes better.
Sleeping Beauty
Dumbo: I can't watch this film since it's so racist.
Peter Pan: Classic
Alice in Wonderland: See Cinderella.
Jungle Book: It was alright
Lady and the Tramp:Haven't saw it in awhile but I didn't like it as a kid.
You forgot Bambi which is still tearjerkingly awesome.

My favorite Disney movie is Mary Poppins. I think that counts as part of the Classic era.

Toy Story 3, Wall-E, Up, Finding Nemo and Incredibles all won it for me. Renaissance does have The Lion King though...

My favorite Disney movies are Pinocchio(classic), Lion King(renaissance), and Toy Story(pixar).

All brilliant but I voted for the renaissance due to their consistence and incredible amount of magic and beauty. Pixar and the Classics are great but also have a number of cons. With the classics, I didn't like Peter Pan and with Pixar there's a couple of them that have completely underwhelemed me such as Cars, Up, Monster's Inc, and I have no interest in Cars 2.

Where can I learn more about the Renaissance period? I heard "Waking Sleeping Beauty" was great.

You were underwhelmed by Up?

First half of the movie was beautiful then it sub-scummed to a predictable type animated film...I think it was the goofy talking dog that was the nail in the casket.

I think I have to go with the Renaissance era, I grew up watching those movies and I have watched them countless times.
It was quite diverse and they were more or less top-notch. It'll be hard to replicate that nowadays.

The so called Disney Renaissance is full of entertaining films but the animation is under par with the work done by the nine old men. A lot of the animation was rushed throughout the so called Renaissance, where as Walt didn't want to see something until the animators were themselves were happy with it. The newer films are more entertaining for todays audiences but they lack the artistic sophistication that the original films had under a man that wasn't about greed, like the board of the directors today. Back in the day artists had more experience as there was more work around the studio and in the industry to hone their skills. A lot of the animators were working in the industry for many years before the first feature film was made, developing the art of animation. A lot of the artists during the 90's did have love for the films that they were making, but they were rushed instead of animating a film for a year or more, like they were back in the day, today they are animated in 6 months. The later films after Walt, the studio just cared about making a buck and how cheap can they can make it, and sell it, not so cheap that the audience will notice they are cutting corners. So many people love the films they grew up with, due to childhood nostalgia that clouds their judgement on what is actually quality. Remember the title The Disney Renaissance was given to themselves by the studio's marketing team, as a self marketing ploy, don't fall for it.

For the most part, this poll is just gonna come down to whichever ones we grew up with. For me (and probably the majority of the Hype's demographic), that's the Renaissance. They're all great, though.

I don't like to choose one over the other but if I had to then it will probably be the Disney Renaissance. It was a decade-long period filled with wonderful films.

The Aristocats, Lion King and The Incredibles are my favourite Disney films. So that's one from each era. Soooo Disney is just awesome in general.

Pixar have the more great films but I have to chose Renaissance.

Pixar is great for adults. More obvious comedy and sometimes It has that hidden level of subtext that we can appreciate with a s******, things that would go over kids heads (like the alcoholics anonymous references in Finding Nemo) for example.

I find the classics a bit wishy washy and 2 dimensional, re interpreted to death a hundred times now, and presenting characters who do not represent realistic role models for kids, and storylines with absolutely no relatability.

I'd go with renaissance because I think it was the perfect combination of childlike innocence and slightly more advanced themes and storylines that appeal to modern audiences.

My faves: the rescuers, beauty and the beast, little mermaid, fox and the hound, wall-e, bolt and finding nemo

Classic Disney wins IMO, simply for the fact that it gave us Fantasia(which I still consider to be the finest animated movie ever made). Then the Pixar era(The Incredibles is #2 on my all time animated movies list); and the Disney Renaissance brings up the rear(really the only film in that bunch that I even like was Aladdin and that was all due to Robin Williams's brilliant work on it).

Pixar, IMO. I love all of them, but Pixar is the best, IMO. Renaissance came very close.
