I saw the trailer when I saw Moana 2. Damn the dwarves look awful.

They could have just hired seven dwarf actors that wouldn't require any CGI. But Peter Dinklage had to complain.

There never was a casting call for people with Dwarfism for this, Disney always planned to do them via CGI.
Dinklage said simply that he would like it if people like him would not only be cast when Hollywood needs Dwarves in Fantasy Movies.
That is literally what he "complained" about...which to me seems like a reasonable criticism.

No, Disney scrapped their original plan to use seven full size characters after severe backlash. The CGI dwarves was a hasty last minute replacement. Originally the seven not-dwarves looked like this.

Indeed, the dwarves look ****ing terrible. The overreliance use of CGI is what put me off from seeing these Disney live-action remakes.

The old witch is even CG'd for ****'s sake. Couldn't they just put Gadot under heavy makeup? Or just cast an actual elder woman for the small role?

I dread the day they will do Hunchback of Notre-Dame and Quasi will look like a CGI monstrosity (no pun intended).

I think it was confirmed that these were only ever meant to be stand-ins.

I hope this makes so little money that Disney is forced to reflect on their mistakes with this. Everything from top to bottom has been handled so poorly. The casting is probably the most egregious mistake

They only make more mistakes when that happens. Disney Animation having such a terrible last few years with the failures of Strange World and Wish scared them enough to force a Moana series into a movie, which going by the box office is paying off but from a quality standpoint it's a massive step down from the first movie by all accounts.

This film is going to crash and burn. I don't see any other way for it to go. The lead has been vilified by fans on social media, Disney choosing ugly CGI dwarves rather than hiring little people actors like Peter Dinklage, Gal Gadot being anti-ceasefire is just a disaster waiting to happen.

This is the only thing that remains to be confirmed. It appears that Martin Klebba is playing Grumpy so it's possible the other dwarves are also played by little people albeit using mocap and voice acting, which is a strange way to go about it but could be an attempt to not anger the little people community by finding that loophole.

But that would make no sense at all... Which wouldnt be out of Character for Disney.
Hiring a cast of little people for mocap etc just to use Super weird cgi.
I get the idea behind the look of the seven dwarves, overdraw them to make them Look more fantastical...but you can Do that without having Bad cgi.

I would think the actors would like to be promoted for their work than swept under the rug. I mean, who’s hiring them for high profile movies in lead roles? This could’ve been a great opportunity as long as they are well written roles - which is what Dinklage meant.

They got a crazy ensemble cast too. Ian McShane, Nick Frost, Ray Winstone, Toby Jones and Bob Hoskins’s final film role.

The irony being that they look better than most of the dwarves in the Hobbit movies.

Not a huge Snow White fan but that trailer was bad. Zegler deserves better or a new agent at least.
