Doesnt everyone have a DVR by now? Plus online? Plus isn't TWD rebroadcast like 3 times Sunday night? Am I missing something.

All that said, I guess networks are still concerned with broadcast nielsen ratings so they might want to program SHIELD against weaker competition for the first season.

Yeah getting to see it isn't really the issue here, it's that networks still base programming decisions mostly on Nielsen ratings and TWD is a monster and would likely be first choice for a significant portion of this show's intended audience, at least at first

Good to hear that filming is starting very soon. Can't wait to get some pics!

Yeah, Nielsen ratings are severely outdated, but network TV programming still lives and dies by it. That's why blinkered TV execs dump great shows, and leave crappy ones on for season after season. SHIELD will likely have a built-in cult following, but unless it appeals to Granny No-Life in Mid-America and her precious Nielsen box, ABC will panic and jettison it.

The 18 -45 demo is the main factor. That's who they want to sell to.

I'd be willing to bet that TWD is killing it in this demo. I do not want SHIELD going up against that.

I agree with you.

Looking at ABC's schedule, the only other place I could see them moving SHIELD to is Thursday from 8-9, but it doesn't really fit thematically with the other shows running there. And Thursday is also CBS's big ratings block. Sunday makes sense other then TWD slot.

I'd say younger as the films are all aimed at families.

Thought I would LOOOVE an adult show like the Marvel Knights/Max stuff.

No doubt that families will watch this show, but the 18-45 demographic is key for networks because they can sell the most products. This often means more then total viewership.

Well that's fine with me, I'm tired of everything watering down just to please kids so the more real and adult the better.

okay so now that the timeline has been settled, what are theories regarding Coulson?

My theory's the most obvious one: That Coulson was near-fatally wounded and his "death" was more of Fury being manipulative. The bloody trading cards were just a part of his deception. It could be that at the time, he wasn't even sure if Coulson was gonna pull through or not, but for his purposes at the time, it didn't matter - he saw an opportunity and he used it. He can be cruel like that when he needs his heroes to get their s*** together, lol.

Before Coulson got the weapon. He activated his LMD. So that was never Coulson that died

That's what I'd been thinking, too. But as long as they don't make the explaination as to how Coulson's alive to convoluted (or stupid), I'm fine with however they do it.

I'm all for whatever leaves the most emotional scars on Coulson. Given that this is Joss, I'm not too worried about that. :)

A different Coulson from an alternate timeline where Thor didn't fall for that travels to our timeline to warn SHIELD about a super secret evil organization that will destroy the world

I wonder if Coulson will show up in the movies ? Or will he be strictly TV show now ?

I love it! :woot:

Well, i think Coulson dying was just Fury doing what Fury does: be a manipulatiive son of a *****.
