Disneys conspiracy against the obese

Some people can't help it. You can't fool your genetics. No matter what I've done nothing has ever works. I can ride my bike, lift weights, dole out food in portions and nothing. I'm still going to be a Size 14 - 16. If people don't like that they know what to do.

First, realize that what I initially posted was in jest (at least in part). I have to agree with what VenomXXXXXXXXXXL said about worrying about being healthy first and foremost as that's really should be the primary motivator for everyone, not just vanity. That said, genetics CAN be overcome at least to a certain extent; often more than most people know or are willing to admit. If you want to swing by the Fitness thread, maybe we can take a look at the diet and exercise approaches you've tried and see if we can't help you not just be healthy but achieve your goals too.

That's my issue. To many people feel that if you're fat, you are unhealthy. Thin people can be just as unhealthy. I'll admit, I am overweight, but I go to the doctors every 6 months to have my cholesterol and heart checked. My heart is strong, my cholesterol is low (135), no diabetes and I have no major body issues. My only issues are plantar fasciitis which comes from standing or walking on concrete all my life with past jobs and my good cholesterol needs to be above 140. I walk a lot. I eat right, but I'm a big guy.
My best friend is my height (6'1") is thin and gets winded walking from his driveway to his house.

I do think genetics plays a part, but not as much as people think. On my mothers side, Everyone was big. Especially my uncle. A huge man. On my dad's side, Everyone is bigger, but not huge by a long shot.

I just can't believe how offended people get anymore about the smallest things. Like what was posted before. I don't get offended about movies showing fat people in a bad or funny way. Just like Black people shouldn't get pissy about their stereotypes. It's always in jest. People need to lighten up and worry about their own issues. If they get offended because of a cartoon then they have the issue.

A lot of people put a lot of effort into trying to mold themselves into the stereotypical ideals, which I think is a mistake. Mold yourself into YOUR ultimate potential, whatever that turns out to be. Most people really have no idea how to go about getting themselves into shape or maximizing their own potential (usually it's related to diet as most people practically live on garbage and a lot of people actually undereat and don't know it). Good health is part of that maximum potential and every single one of us has a different maximum potential; most people wind up setting their bars way too low because they get frustrated with being unable to affect change in themselves through what they are doing, which almost always has an opportunity for refinement so that they can achieve what they're after. They expend a lot of effort, torture themselves, make a certain amount of progress and then stall out completely and get frustrated and just resign themselves to "that's the way they just are" when there is so much further they could take things with the right knowledge and practices.

Good for you for getting yourself into good shape and keeping tabs on things like your cholesterol and blood pressure. Skinny people should worry about those things just as much as overweight people.

What kills me is how fat people try to justify it or put their fatness on you like it's your fault. LOL I remember a few girls saying "why don't you wanna date be just because I'm big?"

Because its not healthy or attracitve! Then they try to say how you're shallow and blah blah. Don't try to "guilt" me into dating or sleeping with you! LOL

Oh, so, of all the thousands of prisoners seen, and the film footage, and pictures, and records, and innumerable corpses....are you saying that the Allies suppressed information about all of the genetically obese Jews who remained fat even though they took in fewer calories than they expended?
Actually, there's pretty damn good evidence to suggest that there is a genetic predisposition to obseity or, more accurately, factors that lead to obesity. There are glitches in the hormonal feedback loops that control hunger and the function of the entire digestive system. You learn about this stuff in physiology, and even basic medical textbooks.

The key is that they have to actually eat to gain the weight, or at least maintain it. If somebody is denied food, of course they're going to lose weight. They have nothing with which they can create fat, save their own muscles via atrophy. No matter goes in, so they can't gain mass.

I think I'd have to start steroid cycles and gamma treatments to get that big.:bh:

Uhhh....no ****.

it's easier to loose weight than a lot of (overweight) people think:
drink more water and less carbonated drinks
eat more fresh veggies and less saturated fat
if you really don't feel like you have what it takes to go regularly to the gym, just walk at least 45 minutes every day
have a wholesome breakfast, a nice lunch and a light dinner, if you have the urge for an in between meals snack, have an apple/orange/pear/etc
and just be patient, it never happens overnight, but you'll see the first sign when you tighten your belt one notch, pretty soon you'll be amazed at how you're fitting into clothes you hadn't worn for ages
don't worry if your garments are dated, just say you're "retro"

That's where people get frustrated too. They want it right away.

My issue I have had is hitting that plateau. Where my body just slows down the losing weight process and levels out. When I was on Atkins, I hit a couple plateaus and I boosted it back by having a one day carb fest. After that then it kicked in again and I would lose more.

Uhhh....no ****.
So you agree that the Jew/Nazi Camp example you put forth was ridiculous? I couldn't tell whether you were joking or were putting a humorous (or morbid) spin on a serious point.

In other words: my sarcasm detector may be broken.

I think it probably might be.
Maybe.

Ah wash mahself wit' a rag onna stick.

ahahahahaha!:woot:

Irony though? apparently there's some sort of "fat people coalition" represented by the guy who wrote the letter because all of a sudden is like all fat people everywhere complained about this.

you guys are weird.

I've heard this "controversy" before, and it drives me insane because the movie clearly explains that people gained all the weight mostly because they lost most of their bone mass living in space all their lives (I'm sure eating pizza and cupcakes out of cups didn't help either).

But then again, someone I work with hated Wall-E because she was offended that Disney was "pushing an environmental agenda on her kids." :whatever:

This isn't anything new for Disney, either. They've been serving healther food with kids meals at the theme parks--fruit instead of french fries and juice instead of soda, and they're no longer allowing characters to appear on junk food. I don't see what's so terrible about that.

And I've just been through a really effective weight loss plan--I had 3 of my wisdom teeth pulled two weeks ago. It's amazing how much weight you lose when you can barely eat anything. :wow:

It makes sense that everyone is fat in the future if robots do most of the work for them. What's this fatty-fatty-8x4-can't-through-the-kitchen-door complaining about? the idiot doesn't get it.

there will always be someone mad about any movie that comes out. You can't please anyone and maybe something that really shows the direction we are obviosly aimed towards is good for people to see.

I think too many people use this as a crutch or excuse though. There's a number of people in my family that are overweight, a few of my cousins noticed themselves gaining extra weight and took measures to change that and look and I'm sure feel healthier. They could have easily said, "Well, I'm genetically predisposed to be fat, so this is my fault, it's genetics" instead, they took action. Genetics can play a factor, but determination, patientce hardwork and probably most importantly will-power can work against those genetics.

That's my issue. To many people feel that if you're fat, you are unhealthy.

I agree being underweight is just as bad as being overweght. There is nothing cute about a twig that has no a**

I don't get offended about movies showing fat people in a bad or funny way.

I don't think its about being bad or funny, but the nature of the joke. Sometimes it can get out of hand, we should all know that.

Just like Black people shouldn't get pissy about their stereotypes. It's always in jest. People need to lighten up and worry about their own issues. If they get offended because of a cartoon then they have the issue.

Not sure how obesity can even be compared to discrimination against black people but ok . That's like putting discrimination against people with a bad habbit for smoking against Jews.

well fat people never got sprayed with fire hoses for being fat....but it did happen to black people...
