I'm down for Jungle Cruise, but I'm still waiting for the Matterhorn movie.
You're about 50 years too late. It's actually based on 1959's Third Man on the Mountain.

And another thing... If Del Toro is going to make a movie with Disney, why the heck does it have to be a reboot of a crappy movie that no-one asked for in the first place? Why is he not doing freaking Gargoyles?

DCC 2010: Exclusive Guillermo del Toro Gives Clarification On Haunted Mansion
By Kellvin Chavez on July 22, 2010
Earlier today Guillermo del Toro surprised the 6,500 fans gathered at Comic-Con with the announcement that he is currently developing a new film for The Walt Disney Studios based on the classic Disney theme park attraction, The Haunted Mansion.
A lot of folks thought he was directing the project but Guillermo del Toro himself emailed me personally to provide an exclusive clarification for LatinoReview readers.
One thing for sure HE WILL ANNOUNCE HIS NEXT DIRECTING PROJECT NEXT WEEK.
Here is what del Toro had to say:
Only producing and co-writing with Matthew Robbins for now. I would love to direct it if the timing allows it but I already have the next directing project ready to be announced in a week or so. Big and unexpected and full of invention. Haunted Mansion is, however, so perfect- because into it I can finally pour decades- most of my life- of admiration and veneration for Rolly Crump, Marc Davis and Claude Coats and the incredibly stylized and impossibly cool world they created. The movie I am imagining and that I dream of bringing forth is a full-on shrine to the feel we had as kids going into these E-ticket rides. For some people Haunted Mansion is just a ride for others, like me, who got caught in it at the precise age, it is almost a way of life.

So there you have it folks.
Stay tuned as he will say what he is directing next.
So this according to the first post will not be a comedy like the first film but have some comedy aspects?? I just rather have a serious movie done here.
The Haunted Mansion is still an awesome ride. And it's pretty twisted, even for a Disney ride. Someone like del Toro could have some good fun with it - especially things like the stretching room.

It's been a while since I've been on the ride, but I always liked the part where the walls started stretching upwards. This should be fun.

Whatever happened to his Cthulhu movie!?
Is this haunted room actually stretching???

I also love it when the people working the ride tell everyone please "move your wretched bodies into the dead center of the room."![]()
Been on the ride since the recent renovations? The Bride in the attic section would be a good addition to a film that they're trying to market as more 'scary' than they are 'funny'.

I love The Bride in the attic, it's really creepy and the effects are great. I've been on both the Disney World and Disneyland versions, but I haven't gotten to see the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay that they do at Disneyland during Halloween. I heard that is amazing.

I was pretty bummed when I was in DL last year and they shut the ride down to work on the NBC theme and re-opened it just a day or 2 after I left. But yeah, the Bride was a great addition and made the attraction all the more creeptastic. It'd be cool if they found a way to work it into the film somehow.
