Do you believe Fox is lying about how much was actually shot and edited for X3?

It's really hard to trust Fox, these days. With their history of double dipping their big time movies, (Count how many times Indepedence Day has been released on DVD if you don't believe me.) Fox loves to milk the DVD releases out to the very last drop. The Daredevil director's cut comes to mind. They release a solid 2 disc set but the movie they included wasn't as rounded as people wish it was. Yet, the DC helped shape it better. Now, I don't know what Fox claimed about how much was originally cut from Daredevil, but the fact is Fox wishes to churn out multiple DVD releases of their blockbusters to bring in more revenue. I see the same thing happening with X-Men: The Last Stand. Ratner and others at Fox have claimed hardly anything was cut from the film. Well, judging that one, I think we can assume that they are not only lying but we should expect a single disc release of the movie this fall. And, a 2 disc "Director's Cut" next year. I don't trust Fox at all and I fully believe that at least 15 minutes was cut from the film. Heck, I'll even go on and say up to 30 minutes was cut! Fox knows how well this movie did at the box-office and they damn well know that they can release 2 DVD releases and everyone will buy it. I'm sick of it!! Give us the better movie now instead of waiting until a year from now. It's ridicous!! Okay, I'm ending my rant with a question. Do you believe Fox lied about how much they actually shot, edited, and/or cut from X3?

Well, one look at the trailers and other clips and it's clear that much was chopped last minute. I don't recall seeing Storm release that tidal wave in the final battle....did you? :o

"You go to war...you might not come home. She might not come home! You ready for that??"

"We're not kids anymore."

Yep, I see that special edition DVD announcement any day now. I hate marketing.

Exactly! What happened to that scene? Much of what we saw in the trailers that seemed to give this film a "dramatic" impression was lost somehow in the theatrical cut.

The thing that disturbs me most is that these character development scenes may have really enriched the film, which could've resulted in better critical reviews.

* It saddens me to know that the studio is apparently willing to sacrifice a well-reviewed film, and positive word-of-mouth for a quick buck at the box office.

* It annoys me that the studio will tantalize fans with scenes and talk for months and then not deliver.

I mean, how many Hypesters debated exactly how Storm could create that tidal wave? And all for what? :o We still don't know how it happened! :down

Oh yeah their lying. There was some stuff in the trailers that wasnt in the film. But im only gonna buy the Directors's cut, whenever it comes out.

Hey Lightning, do you think it possible that they might have previewed a longer version of the film for better reviews and then released a shorter version to allow for more showings? I know this is a bit on the conspiracy theorists side but I don't understand why they would destroy such a legacy.:(

hmmm when did this thread come up... well mine is still very different, kinda revolves around the same thing though..but still different

I do not think FOX is lying about the amount shot, which is a downside, but they just have the normal amount of cuts like the exchange between Wolvie and Iceman and maybe transition shots from here to there.

Maybe we should all file a class action suit :D

I'd hire Matt Murdock but I don't think Affleck would survive. Foggy Nelson on the other hand I'd hire!

I think that was an alternate take like when they shot two versions of Rogue with the cure. The version we got was Iceman being worried about the battle because their outnumbered and Wolverine stepping up as leader saying basicly "were X-men, get some courage because this is what we do, now lets go fight."

1. Storm's tidal wave.

2. Trask coming off creepier to the President with the "You know what needs to be done" line.

3. Rogue's mother.

4. The Wolverine speech to Iceman, Kitty, and Colossus.

5. Leech being experimented on.(This shot was in the teaser trailer)

6. It was confirmed that a shot of Beast sneaking into Alcatrax and bypassing security was filmed, but cut at the last second.

7. Angel in the final battle(This was confirmed by Ben Foster, who said he was involved in that filming and got to kick a lot of ass.)

8. Xavier's speech(Teaser trailer version).

9. Ice Slide(Both Page and Ashmore confirmed that it was filmed).

10. Alternate endings and versions had been filmed according to Ashmore.(Hopefully there's a scene with Cyclops in the final battle. Although it's very unlikely obviously.)

Obviously more than 30 seconds was cut from the film.

My internet messed up and it posted this post twice. Can someone please delete the second one?

I think most of these scenes were just alternate scenes and therefore WILL NOT be incorporated into the film in a director's cut... just a list of alternate/deleted scenes and that will probably be it... (and Cyke returning for the final battle??? How can you even suggest that?)

Especially after one of the Writers saying FOX did NOT want Scott in the Movie AT ALL

They cut a lot more than we were told...and one scene that I thought looked better in the previews was Magneto taking out all the trucks in the scene where he breaks everyone out...I wondered if they thought it should look effortless and more powerful than practical effects and stunts could make it look...afterall he does move the GG bridge...so why wouldn't he be able to with the flick of a finger knock cars off the road...What we got was an effect that looked unfinished:down

From Ben Foster Online...

Q: He is well known as an action director. How were the action scenes?

A: I was certainly one of the more fortunate actors in terms of battling and fight sequences. In this film the actors do a lot of their own stunts. We have some of the best CGI effects, but also practical effects. So when you see Halle Berry fly, or Hugh Jackman moving extraordinarily fast you’re seeing the actors. I can only speak for myself, but I certainly enjoyed the experience of simulated flight.

Eh... maybe he never got a whole lot of action in other roles... look... I think there is a decent amount of footage out there... but again... just alternate scenes and sh:t that had no place in the story... I doubt they would leave out major battles with Angel, Jugg/Coll... Rougue... danger room extensions and what not... there just can't be 20 minutes of footage out there that could be incoporated to make this a two hour film... not even ten minutes... 5 minutes tops

They left out Storm's tidal wave. If they cut a stunt like that, who knows what else was cut.

& also it seems they had more stuff like Jean fully rising at the Lake but never got the effects done in time etc

This guy needs to do his homework

Lightning,

I've got the solution you've been looking for.... and it'll be here very soon. :)

I don't think it's that costly a scene... maybe they ran out of money and had to cut it short but you could clearly see the scene where it was supposed to be in... probably like ten seconds extra and that's it... they would've shown Jean if they had the budget for the effects... maybe we will see it if the first DVD does well... I still ain't counting on a directors cut

Agreed. I still find it hard to believe they cut the tidal wave.
