Do you believe in a higher power/God?

I've thought of Satan being the good one and brought it up to my mom who laughed and said it could be. I would hope not though.

Why not?
The only words we have on satan are the words that came from God himself.

Personally, higher power- yes. Holy books- no. No offense to followers of religions.

sorry, noir, but Satan wasn't the one that saved my life...

I've seen and felt personally what he's like, and it's something I never want to experience again

at one point in my life, I was possessed by a demon, and I'll tell you right now, looking back, it was the scariest moment of my entire life

Gotta hate it when that happens.

What did it do to you?
it caused a rift in my family one night, and then alter in life, it led me down a path of destruction for 4 years until I took back control

Did you call anyone for that? I watched a thing on TV and they had people that come and remove it for you. I'm sorry that it happened to you though.

they don't care if you beleive in it or not... in fact, they prefer it that way because then, they can get away with more.
So I could be possessed right now? What did it do? I mean, what did it change? Did it make you go around telling people stuff? I'm actually really interested in this.

well, you can do that, but it doesn't have to be as elaborate and all drawn out like what you see in tv shows... A Christian has the authority to cast out demons in the name of Christ, and since I didn't have anyone, that's what I had to do... and I won't lie, it was a painful experience. When it left, I literally felt like a piece of me left with it... but it was a piece of me that needed to be taken away.

that's okay, noir... you didn't do anything

I'm sorry.. but did you think it might not have been a bad idea? I mean, men need both good and evil to be truely human.. maybe if you just controlled it. then again, I'm not the up-most authority on this stuff.. so I'm just wondering.

There's no such thing has being controlled. There are no possessive demons, just crazy people and sane people.

no, noir... men do not need evil in their lives to be human. Christ lived a life without any hatred or evil in his life, and if more Christians did that in the past, then maybe today, a life with Christ wouldn't look so bad to others.

And the people in-between.. aka Batman Fans.

You demon believers just don't understand. :whatever: There's more of a chance of Batman actually happening than some demon coming into your body.

**** a demon.

People who've been 'possessed by demons,' and by extension people who use that self-same excuse for people of other faiths or what-have-you, I've found always seem to follow a pattern that seems to suggest that the problem is much more psychological than it is supernatural.

Many of the symptoms of 'demonic possession' can be found in Dissociative Identity Disorder, including (natch) the identification of the other personality as a 'demon -' or sometimes even 'Satan.'

One of the common traits, I've found, with people like Kal (in this area), is that this other personality, the 'demon,' is usually blamed for some long period of disdain in the person's life. Usually - person becomes an abusive alcoholic, or a pornography addicts, or something like that.

I'm just tellin' what me knows.

I just thought of something really ****ed up:
What if god was really the evil liar and Satan was the good guy, but since god one the war he was the one who got to spread his word around you know "satan is bad" "You have to Worship me." "Praise me or be tortured." What if he was the bad one, the evil one the liar..
I mean, it kind of makes sense because when god demands stuff he does so in a way that would make a narcissist say he was too self centered. I'd laugh at everyone.

There's actually an entire school of thought, far and away from Satanism, that expounds on this kind of thing - I've discussed it at length with the maniacs and ramblers on the IMDb boards, but I can't seem to remember what it's called.

It's an interesting theory, really.
