Do you support the death penalty?

yeah i do
but then again if it was up to me their family would watch as teh switch is flipped
to make sure they know the did something awful and their family would know that

I support it for the worst crimes if there is indisputable proof.

Considering how easy the prison system is, for some of these jackasses, there really is no alternative but death.

Go watch that movie "Dead Man Walking" with Sean Penn then place your vote.

I believe eye for an eye tooth for a tooth. Living free on the prison should not be an option.

why would you want to victimize innocent family members? you sound quite criminal yourself. better be careful you aren't the guy ending up in the chair.

It's a great film but doesn't change my vote.

Look how many voted yes. Is it any wonder that mankind is constantly destroying itself in war? Is this the instinctual desire that will be our extinction?

the funny this is this. something like 85% of what made you who you are today were the events that happened when you were a child. imagine this hypothetical situation.

we have a murderer on death row. somebody from the future on a sinister quest to do evil decides to travel back in time, and abduct both you and the murderer as fresh new borns, and trade wrist bracelets and crib locations.

This time the guy who was originally a murderer grows up to live a life much like yours originally was.

and you grow up to be the murderer.

now when you commit the crime, of course it's your fault you committed it. but is it your fault you grew up to be who you are? Is it your fault that as a baby and a child you grew up in certain conditions that were completely beyond your control, which shaped you into who you are today?

Is society an ugly place that merely produces ugly people? If society were a better place, say a utopia, would children grow up to be murderers? Are you a perfect human being? Do you ever wonder what you would be capable of had your life been different?

Are you God? do you get to dicate who lives and dies?

I vote no. I'm sorry, but to give a criminal the death penalty would be giving them an easy way out. I for one would rather them suffer in prison for a very, very long time, maybe even in solitaire. they'll go crazy, i'll be happy.

I'd support the death penalty for repeat offenders. 3 strikes & you're out- permanently.

Yes I do! Some people disserve to die!

The Death Penalty is stupid.

Let's say you're an atheist. If you kill someone you end their suffering.

Let's say you're a religious person. If you kill them, more than likely you'll be sending them to Heaven.

Why reward a crime with peace or Heaven? I say let them rot in a cage for the rest of their days.

:thing: :doom: :thing:

If you're a religious person, wouldn't you believe they'd committed a sin without being forgiven and therefore be going to Hell?

All they have to do is say, "I'm sorry." and their in. Hell, I bet Hitler is in Heaven.

The death penalty is appropriate for the most serious repeat offenders (where crimes can be indisputably proven). For a first offence, even murder, a path to redemption should be available for those willing to take it. Those who have suffered in childhood can have extenuating factors taken into account. The death penalty isn't something that should be handed out without great consideration for the individual circumstances of the case. At the same time there needs to be an ultimate tool available that criminals will fear. At the moment, if you have an enemy that has ruined your life, you can kill them and only have to worry about a limited jail term. If you've got little left to lose it's an easy option.

Or "Green Mile"

I vote no. Two wrongs don't make a right, and saying the prison system is lousy is no excuse. Fix the system, don't just kill them off. Just as a murderer had no right to take a life, neither do we have the right to take theirs.

We don't have any capital punishment over here and it creates no drastic difference to the proportional rate of crime to America. Britain isn't swarming with murderers because we lock them up, and don't kill them. It is not a deterrent, if someone is going to commit a crime, then they will, death penalty or not. You have the death penalty, but shock horror! crime still happens.

I wish we had it over here, so we don't pay our taxes so some prisoners can live better like Ian Hutley people like him deserve to die.

I think it should be reserved only for the most severe crimes. Other than that, I think knowing that you are going to spend the rest of your life in prison is more of a punishment.

If someone is convicted of a crime and is sentenced to death, but later on, new evidence emerges which means that they didn't do it. How would you explain it to their family that their son/daughter was killed because the government ****ed up?
