Acceptable? Or...ethical? Or would you say it is...objectifying?

I mean not just Girls Gone Wild (which I just saw a commercial for on Spike TV, prompting me to start this thread) but any other form of so-called "male entertainment" such as...The Man Show, or anything else that would promote this kind of thing.

So, the question that I'm asking is - are you OK with this sort of thing? Does it bother you? Would you call it objectifying? Or would you just call it harmless entertainment? Is the exposure of female nudity and sexuality, simply for the sake of eye candy and male arousal...a-ok? Or do you think otherwise? The women and the men of the hype...what do you say about this entertainment?

Their perogative. I can almost guarantee a dad has bought a tape, started to crank the snake and saw his daughter. Had to happen.

I think it's disgusting.

But whatever, let them sell it if they wish.

I find it all extremely degrading.

That's all I got to say about that.

The girls are all willing participants, and most of the time are having fun, so hell....let them enjoy. Never actually seen an actual tape (just the infomercials), but do they just get naked and kiss?

i think the are willing because they are blasted out of thier minds.

and who doesnt like a free t-shirt.

Yikes. You're probably right. It's not like the girls who appear in these videos are "names" like porno girls. These are all random broads (yes, I'm calling them broads. I dare you to tell me "Girls Gone Wild" girls deserve my respect, and mean it) who agree to flash their naughty bits along with a bunch of other random dames. A guy could buy a GGW video, and have no idea who he'll see. It could be his daughter. His neice. His cousin. His sister. That'd be just scary enough to shut a man's penis down for days.

I don't like the fact that they catch girls who are really drunk and get them to do this. I'm note sure all their videos are this way but there has been some controversy over the method I just identified.

i personally find it degrading cuz i'd never do that

but it's their choice and they're stuck with it so to each his own i guess

I'll play Devil's Advocate here - I enjoy GGW, as exploitative as it is. Well, one of them. The rest are kind of boring. But that one - ooh.

Some of them actually have sex with each other.

There's a huge market for "girls with low self esteem". I wanna know who convinced them being so easy was so cool? I don't mean individuals i mean young girls as a whole. Don't get me wrong - i do like breasts alot, and i don't mind them being shown in public (depending on who's they are) but it does strike me as a bit weird how post feminism and sexploitation became the same thing.

I think it's degrading and lame, but the guy who came up with it is a frickin genius. Everyone goes to Spring Break to see girls flash the crowds...why not tape it and sell it? There's been a lot of trouble with underage girls, however...the creator has been sued for it in the past.

Haha, no doubt it's happened.

JUST ASK MY DAD!

No, but seriously I don't have a sister.

I have no problem with it. It's their choice if they want to flash their naughties, not mine.

It's boring. Seriously, you see more action at your average strip club, and from better looking women too. I have no idea why they're so popular, when regular porn is much, much better.

No. It's wrong and everything but......

I'm gonna stop talking about this now.......

I look at it this way: in the same way the topic post questions GGW being acceptable, one could question all of Enzyte's male enhancement commercials you see on TV. All of them are suggestive and primarily done for our entertainment. You could probably talk all day about how the commercials create assumptions- false or not- about men. Meanwhile, I choose to look at both less as a matter of ethics and more about entertainment. We all know that sex sells, and if women didn't want to perpetuate the issues created by videos of girls flashing the camera they could work against the "party girl" stereotype created by them. No harm, no foul in my book.

I think sometimes people buy a GGW DVD just to see if there's any sex in it.

Hmm. Let me ponder; Do I believe that drunk girls being slipped date raped, taken to a random location and told to strip and degrade herself on camera infront of a sleazy millionaire rapist who got kidnapped and had batteries forced up his a-hole is wrong? Not to mention majority of girls are underaged... Hmm... No... Not wrong at all.

(yes it is)

Joe Francis needs to die in a fire.

:cmad:

You "people" with your "morals." You all make me sick. As soon as you realize you're all just put here for my entertainment, and that none of you really matter, the better off we'll all be. And be we, I mean me. You guys will all still be the miserable animals you've always been.

It really all depends on the situation. Adult entertainment is fine, I've got no problem with it. It has it's place.

But when it starts crossing over to younger audiences, it gets a bit weird.

Take WWE for example. I loved when Stacy Kiebler was on that show. Man, she was damn hot. But thinking about the crazy stuff she'd do, and the stuff that would happen to her, and the fact that a large amount of children watch WWE.

She had a string of storylines where male wrestlers treated her like dirt and just a sexy trophy.
She was only ever on screen as something to oogle at.
She had a segment where she had a super soaker and fired it on some sexy girls tops while they bounced and jiggled in the ring, then she let Jerry Lawler fire the soaker at her ass.

Basically what they made her into was classic male objectification of her, and I don't think that's something that kids need to watch.

She stole that supersoaker bit from DX, who did it better the first time...
