The Avengers Do you think other studios may try and follow suit with the teamups/crossovers?

Considering they kind of struck gold getting Whedon on this and now the 1 BILLION DOLLARS, I already know DC is going to try and gear something up after this. Other studios that have franchises that are technically in the same universe may attempt to do the same. I know they've been hinting that G.I. Joe and Transformers are technically in the same movieverse, but they'll wait and see how Retaliation is received.

Transformers, GI Joe and Battleship. The title could be "TraJoeShip: We Can All Suck Together"

Announcing the sequel for GL was just a means of WB saving face. GL will get no sequel. WB/DC willhave to go back to the drawing board to try and get a DC-CU going. They'll probably be focusing on MoS for now.

I suspect WB/DC will keep doing what its doing for good or ill.

I do wonder what, if any, impact this will have towards X-Men and how Fox handles it in the future.

I'm pretty sure if Cameron took no issue with it, Fox may try and get an Avatar/Alien/Predator thing going.

Oh I bet Cameron would definitely have issue with Fox on that.

The thing is that other than superheroes, no other properties are so perfectly tailor made for this kind of idea. And obviously the Marvel heroes are the best suited to it of the 2 big publishers since they had the integrated universe concept from it's very conception wheras tha DC heroes had to get it retconned in later.

Transformers already has such a heavy military presence, would anyone notice?

Yeah, I don't see many potential crossover points for other studios, genres, or whatever. Maybe horror movie franchises could try a crossover again, like in the days of Universal's monster mash films (Dracula vs. Frankenstein, e.g.). I wouldn't mind someone trying a mash-up of classic western characters or classic cop/detective characters someday, though....

I'm 99% sure WB/DC are planning Justice League as we speak. Let's just hope they do it right like Marvel did.

Their first attempt at getting it made didn't exactly inspire confidence

Nor did Green Lantern

Well no doubt WB is wanting to do a JL movie but with GL bombing they've stalled on how to continue. The one where they tired to fast track before the writers strike just had disaster written all over it. They could just try the team up right out of the gate but that's even far more harder than what The Avengers had to leap through.

While I've always liked the individual characters that make up the Justice League, I've never liked them together. Whereas I was always drawn to Avengers, because they always put the characters and the team personalities above what they could do.

I wish them luck if they try to put it together, and I'd probably go see it, but I just don't see how they can possibly match what Avengers did.

The first thing WB needs to do is prove they can make a decent movie without Superman or Batman in it.

In the right hands, a Justice League movie would actually make Avengers look like amateurs, though. That's always been the ultimate Marvel vs. DC e-peen --- Avengers vs. JLA --- but it's hard to argue against the power levels of the Justice League. A core team of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, Hawkman, Atom, Green Arrow and Black Canary would probably require a $300 million budget to cover the visual fx alone; then you pit them against an ungodly force like Darkseid, Eclipso, Despero, Amazo, Brainiac or Doomsday, and the fireworks would make Avengers vs. Loki and the Chitauri look like amateur hour.

This.

Wasn't DC already going to do this? I thought I remember reading that Green Lantern was supposed to be their Iron Man that would launch the rest of their franchises and eventually lead up to a Justice League movie. GL tanked but they still announced a sequel, probably because they had based their whole future on it.

And now that Nolan has given up Batman it will be easier to get all the characters together. At least Warner doesn't have to worry about rights.

If there's one thing Hollywood knows how to do its copy a recent success. Even Avengers was derivative of recent films (ahem.. Transformers). I'm sure every studio is thinking about some "team-up" opportunity right now.

Amanda Waller will sever as the glue to bring the DC movie universe together. She severs the same purpose as Nick Furry. If she pops up in Man of Steal then we will know for sure that DC is doing a Justice League movie.

I suspect Waller would probably be the connection if they decide to do something similar, only with her being more of an antagonist.

..... And my lord will come off as such a copycat move.

I wouldn't be surprised if Fox tries an X-Men/FF4/Daredevil crossover in the future, though probably not with the First Class cast members (or with the original trilogy actors). Fox should consider themselves lucky to have three separate Marvel entities under their control -- they should try and utilize it to the max.

I hear Jeff Robinov, the head honcho at WB, wants a Batman & Superman film badly. No Justice League film, just those two.

Waller showing up like that would make people laugh because it would be such a blatant rip off, that it would seem like a parody.

I don't think Waller showing up in MOS would even register with the general audience. She was such a non presence in GL that they'd be surprised she was even in the movie.
