With all this talk about the Secret Wars comic possibly rebooting the 616 marvel universe, the question must be asked; Would you even want a complete reboot of the Marvel Comics Universe? Do you think a fresh start would be good for the stories, or would it just be like retreading ground that's already covered?

No. I'd like something to fix the **** parts that they've screwed up over the past decade or so. Change a few things in the history, modify a few characters, murder off the Ultimate comics. Thats about it.

Considering that the last time I read more than 2 Marvel comics in given month was about 8 years ago part of me thinks I'd welcome a reboot at this point. Then again I've grown to care less and less about this company over those years that I don't even think I'd check for a company wide reboot at this point either. I outgrew Marvel and was never a die hard fan of the brand to begin with so it's whatever.

A reboot won't accomplish anything in the long run except make things more convoluted and necessitate more reboots down the road. Just concentrate on telling good superhero stories and we'll gloss over the crap stories and inconsistencies like we've always done.

Depends. Are they undoing some terrible, terrible, terrible mistakes, like OMD. Simplifying the Summers family tree or the Ghost Rider mythos wouldn't exactly be a bad thing.

The Summers family tree should be left complicated just to make things fun. Eventually there won't be anyone Scott can date as he'll be related to everyone in some way.

A soft reboot is what I prefer. Clean some stuff up without obliterating the past 60 something years, tell some great new tales, and stop doing major company wide storylines every six months. Do not ''X"-communicate the X-Men (sick of all this Uncanny Avengers, Uncanny Inhumans...what's next Uncanny Groot!?) just lower the number of titles to something more manageble. Stop making the Marvel Universe all Avengery! I mean what made me fall in love with the Marvel Universe was the diversity but now everybody has to be connected to the Avengers somehow or they have to effect the Avengers in some way. And for the love of God...DO NOT BRING GWEN STACY BACK IN CONTINUTIY!! I know they are trying to merge all aspects but Uncle Ben & Gwen are a must to stay dead. I loved Spider Verse's Spider-Gwen but she needs to remain in an altenate reality. I'm sorry for the rant...but I hate what Marvel and DC are becoming. Thank God for the Indies.

Could be better than merging 616 with Ultimate.

doesn't a reboot just mean they get to rewrite old stories and pass them off as new? Seems lazy but maybe I'm wrong.

A reboot sort of means that they can 'make whole new stories and ideas' but a huge chunk of the time it's just the same new things as before. :p

Reboots are usually handled poorly and, at best, a whole system-wide reboot is unnecessary. Soft reboots are generally all that's needed. Or, if that doesn't work, just ignoring things works just fine. Just because you have that history doesn't mean you have to be mired in it.

Marvel ignores tons of stuff that only us canon nerds get upset over. I'm fine with ignoring stuff if it makes for a good story.

^THIS^

That is exactly what needs be done.

No and i agree just tell some good stories and clean up some the convulted crap like the summers family as mention and this
Stop making the Marvel Universe all Avengery!
not every freakin Iron fist, tom, dick and Moon Knight needs to be an avenger! i actually perfered when the they had their little "Heroes for Hire" family thing going on. i know what MARVEL is trying to do putting them on the the Avengers team brings more exposure but DareDevil doesn't need to be out in space fighting freakin THANOS!!

Aren't they just doing this to make their comics more consistent with the movies in the end?

Just have something along the lines of DCs 'Superboy punched reality' thing and make something happen to slightly modify existing characters.

"there's nothing stupider than Spider-man in space"

lol, I'd say the same about "Bucky in Space"
but.. I haven't actually read the comic, so whether the execution was dumb, i do not know

it's just something I read online a long time ago that stuck with me.

Hahahaha! i had totally forgot about that until now that you mentioned it KG!Man that was dumbass *()*! i can totally see Reed Richards inventing some new quantum singularity/ negative zone thing that goes wrong!( reed always does that ^&*) and causing reality to bleep off for a second with everything changed when it comes back on!

My question is, every Marvel NOW! series ends before Secret Wars?

Well at least Daredevil will be back in Hell's Kitchen where he belongs. Hopefully we also get some good Hulk, Punisher and Ghost Rider books out of this cause it's been years.
