well it wasnt because the movies were back to back the third one sucked but becuase of thr Wachoswki brothers, thats the movie they wanted

Besides the LOTR franchise, the third BTTF was less than fantastic and the two matrix sequels sucked.

it all depends on time and money. one of the benefits for back-to-back filming is financial-- it saves money for the studio in the long run. on the creative side it makes the storytelling a lot tighter and a lot more consistent with quality of the films with the rest of the franchise. and from what i hear from Nolan, he already has a clear vision of where to lead this franchise that he can do it back to back if the studio asks for it.

And I hope they won't go with this way with Batman franchise, because it would ruin what we have now.

As Goyer said, we will see scarring of Dent only in 3rd movie, so TDK will end on Joker going to the trial.
