The Amazing Spider-Man Do you want to see a 'final swing' at the end of ASM?

I do and I don't.

I do because final swings are awesome.

I don't because it's something that was common in the previous trilogy.

I defintely want to see a final swing but I doubt we will as the film makers will no doubt want to distance themselves from the previous trilogy, which is a shame.

A great way to distance themselves from the previous trilogy would be setting up the main villain for the sequel (either in a post-credits scene or something). :D

I don't need a final swing so long as there is an awesome swinging scene at some point in the movie.

I think it's something that should be in every Spidey film unless it isn't necessary. S-M3's ending was perfect for the story. So yes, I think there should be another final swing.

...It isn't necessary at all. It wasn't necessary for Spider-Man nor was it necessary for Spider-Man 2.

Those two movies could have simply... y'know, ended. Spider-Man could have ended with Peter walking towards the screen, saying the famous quote... to which it fades to black. Mary Jane saying "Go get 'em, Tiger." followed by Peter running off and the screen fading away would have worked for Spider-Man 2.

They did however, make the the endings much more memorable and cooler.

I would freak out if they revealed Norman to be the next villain.

it's like superman's outer space wink at the camera, yes it ties it to richard donner's movie but I will be really sad if it isn't included in MoS (which it wont).

no, they *were* necesarry in both those cases, that is, if you think it is necesarry to give the audience a fulfilling ending to the film...

I would like to see something different, like, maybe just seeing him leap into the middle of a job, and then cut to credits, y'know, like they did in Blade 1 and 2, except see a little more of the job. Maybe see Pete leaving the house to go wherever, then we see a crime in progress, crooks breaking into a warehouse...Pete walks past, the spider-sense tingles, and then we see him burst through the window and into the middle of the action....showing that his is a job that never ends...

It's not necessary.

Spider-Man: He saved the kids and the girl, he didn't tell Harry about his father's secret life and accepted the responsibility of his gift/curse.

Spider-Man 2: He saved the city and saved the girl. It could have ended with him running off or leaping outside or something.

While the final swings made those endings more memorable and cooler, they were in no way necessary.

What I mean is, it was necesarry for *something* dramatically spider-manesque to happen at the end, if you wanted more of a guarantee of the audience to have that uplifting feeling going out the door.
and I don't think the suggestions you gave were good enough for a fulfilling ending, which were basic, fade to black suggestions...

Fair enough.

That may be because I'm not the one getting paid to write a "fulfilling" ending.

Or may have something to do with the lack of sleep.

Or my lack of imagination.

Or all 3. D:

Yeah, I actually would like to see one. But it isn't necessary.

There'd better be one with this movie budget
And I love seeing homages to the final swing scenes from both movies, like in Edge of Time when Spidey 2099 swings and the intro of TSSM animated, that was really cool

I want to see the next film set up, not an allusion to the previous trilogy. No, no, no, no and no. Theres going to be plenty swinging in the movie anyways.

I said yes because it's kind of a staple of superhero movies in general. Superman has his final flight, so did Green Lantern. Batman glides, runs, or rides. Daredevil jumped off a building. So I think it should be there in some form.

Going the Blade route is an excellent idea. :yay:

Agreed.

I didn't mean that you couldn't think one up, it was just that you gave examples of what might have happened if they did not finish with a swing, and to see the movies end that way would have been a bit dull.

the end to sm3 is interesting, because they could not end with a triumphant swing, as the movie was all about people being messed up and making mistakes, but I still feel they could have done something more. Maybe after that reconciliantion with mj they could have went back to Spidey sitting on that church spire in his red and blue costume, still despondant about hurting Mj, and Harry dying...but, y'know, he has some thoughts on life in a vo echoing SM1, and he swings off at the end, not triumphantly, but, y'know, because life goes on and he still has to do his spider-man gig, trying to be a hero even after doing some right unheroic things...I think that would have been better than the ending they gave us, which most folk hated.

I put that out there just so someone could say that mate, haha. Just wondering who that would be, but, unfortunately they are the only examples I could think of in that ballpark, poor endings as they may be, hence my suggestion for improvement in my post, which you did not comment on.

I want to see something completely different. Like foiling a robbery as the last scene. And have it be someone he caught before, earlier in the movie. The crook would be like "Aw, not you again!" And Spidey would be like "Get used to it. I'll be in the neighborhood for a while."
