IGN posted the design sketches for Ock's new look in ASM #600, and I noticed something very, very interesting on one of them:

Carolyn Trainer. What do you guys make of that? Wouldn't it be fab to see her return and reunite with Octavius? Especially in his current condition. She could even be instrumental in helping him find a cure, just like she helped him during his resurrection.

Ock should snap her neck afterwards. Looking down at her broken body, he says: "I apologize my dear, but there can be only one Doctor Octopus."

Ock then goes to the prison currently housing Carlyle and kills him too, on general principle.

And am I the only one who wants to see Otto settle the score with Kaine?

I don't see why Ock would kill Carolyn, she's basically been like an assistant to him. If she does return, I don't see her donning the arms again (much like her role in the novel "Down These Mean Streets").

I'm all for Octavius wasting Carlyle and Kaine. Especially Kaine. He's got it coming big time.

But not Carolyn. She's been good to Ock. She was instrumental in bringing him back from the dead, and restoring his memories and mind. She also worships the ground he walks on. She's like his own version of Harley Quinn in alot of ways.

Plus I always liked Carolyn. Aside from being a die hard devotee to Ock, she's a very intelligent and ruthless *****, who kicked alot of ass when she donned the tentacles in Ock's absence.

Did anyone read Spider-Man Unlimited #18, which deals with Ock's aftermath of being resurrected, and there's a whole bunch of flashbacks where he and Carolyn discuss his past. And it's revealed how her father introduced her to Octavius, and that Carolyn used to visit Ock in prison.

It was really cool, and didn't mess with any continuity.

Very true. I'm actually pretty much opened to her returning at any time.

I'm a continuity hound so any mentioning of Ms Trainer is good for me. I dont like that she just disappeared. And yes, Unlimited 18 (The Life and Death and Life of Doctor Octopus) was a very good read.

If anyone would be interested in some scans from that story, just let me know. We don't often discuss Carolyn Trainer in the Lair. And she's done no wrong. She's actually quite a cool character.

A shame she's in limbo. Alot of cool characters need to be brought back. Hobgoblin is another one. Forget lame-o villains like Freak and Menace. Bring back the good characters.

Think about it. All we actually see is a wasted figure completely covered up, face and all. The only time we see a really recognizable Otto Octavius, it's a projected image. AND Carolyn's always been the one to get into the whole computer-hacking cybernetic-interfacing thing.

Carolyn has no connections to May, so it wouldn't make sense.
