Ok guys. itunes is downloading the new episode as we speak. It's also loading a free motion comic.

Cool!

I'll be back in a while to enjoy all the spoilers.

Rivers timeline (for the new thread) :

- Born in Demon's Run [melody]
- Brainwashed and brought up by those ppl. [melody]
- Shoots The Doctor in the space suit. [melody]
- Regenerates in NY alley [-> mels]
- Travels to Britain and befriends Amelia [mels]
- Gets Rory and Amy together [mels]
- Takes them to Berlin and regenerates [-> river]
- Gives up regeneration ability to save The Doctor [river]
- Starts studying archeology [river]
- Season 5 and 6 takes place? Her episodes in reverse order.[river]
- The Doctor meets her for the first time and she meets him for the last time in Silence in the library/Forrest [river]

I bolded where I guess Season 5 and 6 takes place but I am not sure.. Is this correct?

Hitler is trapped in the closet. No, anyone? Ha.

I have to say, out of everything we were given, I love, love the Doctor's new coat. Good River centric episode, I'm sure Lord Valuemart or whatever destroyed his tv in rage.

I want to know want the fish fingers and custard revelation meant. Glad to have this show back.

Stupid Colin Baker thread...

Anyhow, didn't like that episode...

I think Matt said that he was wearing the same thing he was wearing to Amy/Rory's wedding and we also know that he was extremely late to their wedding as well.

But...there was just too much going on this ep. I sort of wish they would have kept the Mels revelation for a little longer to make the impact bigger. It just felt pointless since we knew the character all of like 5 minutes.

Well, he was only late because Amy took so long to remember him back into existence. But he was definitely wearing the wedding attire (sans scarf)

After the jacket clue in Flesh and Stone I have to think that this is more than a coincidence.

Yeah, but I think that they did an effective job establishing what the character meant to Rory and Amy through the flashbacks (which were really sweet).

@Matt

River can't be the astronaut. She broke the programming so unless she timey-wimey kills him as a kid then grows up still trying to kill him.

Let's not forget that River shot at the astronaut. If that was her past self, why would she risk killing herself and turning the timeline upside down?

I think the Doctor fakes his death at Lake Silencio. The Silence (which apparently is the name of an organization rather than a single species) will stop at nothing to finish this endless war with the Doctor, and River pointed out that the Doctor's travels have given him a reputation as a warrior rather than a healer or explorer. If he fakes his death at that point in time, his enemies will think they won, and they'll leave the Doctor and his friends alone.

But he kinda broke her heart though didn't he?

The last thing Martha said to the Doctor before leaving the TARDIS was that traveling with him was similar to a destructive one-sided relationship her friend once had. Martha tried to be nice about it and i'm sure she didn't mean to make the Doctor feel guilty, but she told him that he was destroying her love life.

The Doctor later gave Martha a job with UNIT, but that ended up putting Martha in a position where she had to decide whether or not to destroy the Earth.

Then there was that time they were stuck in London in 1969, and Martha had to work in a shop to support him like a lazy boyfriend...

Don't most of the Doctors companions suffer some sort of trauma travelling with him.

The Doctors had a hand messing up Amys life already.

So double.

At least she survived. :o

And met Micky. (Another companion he f**ked over.)

The multiple near-death experiences alone...

The Doctors had a hand messing up Amys life already.

In the episode, he asked the TARDIS to show him someone whose life he hadn't messed up yet. That's why it showed him Amelia instead of adult Amy. Little Amelia's life wasn't ruined yet, but it was by the time she grew up.

If there's one companion whose life he didn't ruin, I'd say it was Ace. Not only did he rescue her when they met, but he helped her resolve some family issues she'd been holding back.

Hmmm, I hope they weren't implying the regeneration we saw at the end of the New York episode was the only one. If "Mels" was "born" in 1969, then she'd be 42 when we last saw her, which makes no sense. Right?
