Doctor Who - Regeneration 4

I agree with everything he said.

A wonderful title, a wonderful set up, and then possibly the worst 35 minutes of Dr Who I've ever seen. Obviously that doesn't include the hour spent on Voyage of the Damned of Last of the Time Lords because I had hopes for this...

But everyone knows you are crazy.

Perhaps, but LV's craziness doesn't lessen the contrived tropes we're being beaten over the head with in the form of the River Song character.

I loved "Lets Kill Hitler" it may stand to be one of my favorite episodes overall. What can I say? I love River Song!

Mixed feelings about this episode. It had a lot of great stuff but it felt rushed and the premise it was sold on (The Doctor Vs. The Nazis) was terribly squandered!
Something that really grated was, as other people have mentioned, if Melody regenerated into Infant-Mels in 60's New York then how did she grow up (and grow up at a normal rate) in Leadworth? Also, where were her parents? Nobody like teachers or other parents (or even Amy and Rory!) ever thought to wonder this?
I'm also starting to get annoyed at characters temporarily dying for cheap dramatic effect.

I get what that article is saying. They could have stretched the plot out over a few more episodes and actually had a little more to do with the whole punching Nazi's thing and had Mels secretly be River for a few more episode. But overall I enjoyed it, a LOT.

Am I the only one not looking forward to the Minotaur episode?

Heh. There must be enough people on the focus groups who agree with you. :yay:

Edit: Can't believe I am saying this, but I agree with The Mirror. For me, River Song is charmless and irritating, and it feels like her constant recurrence has put the handbrake on the whole show. Please can we just call the that episode the end of her story?

The Lego River Song is more attractive than the live action version.

Just watched the LET'S KILL HITLER episode....I liked it. It wasn't perfect but enjoyable.

It's been a bad year for Hitler...first Cap punches him a few dozen times and now Rory gets a shot at him. I need to go find the movie ZONE TROOPERS for a trifecta.

I'm not that crazy. I just say what needs to be said. I want to see some Silurians damnit!!:cmad::cmad:

i do think after this half of the season River will kind of just be like a one episode appearance character after this. To be honest I don't have a problem but i would like a break from the story just so we get back to a new companions and new adventures and then get back to River later.

I do think this episode was good, I like how Moffat sort of took that old comic strip from the beano idea and made it real of little people inside someone operating every bit of ur body like people monitor the brain and stuff but doing it in a cool way.

The revelation of River i thought at first, it was river but then I went with the flashback oh right Moffat must just like good entrances but once it was revealed I was like okay i was right and was slightly surprised so I liked it.

I like how Kingston sort of acted younger and excitable after she regenerated but i do agree sometimes it was mixed but still it was good. I do think the reactions of Rory and Amy and the Doctor to River, but i did think they could have done more and have them be more worried and be more parenty towards River to sort of reason with her and take care of her.

I do feel that the only weakness to Moffats story is that unlike last season where it seemed more fluent in that the story arc with crack in the wall, this season it seems a bit off because theres filler episodes and its harder to have a Doctor Who show and have them travel yet try to solve the mystery of the Silence and stuff.

Huh. I didn't realize so many fans hated River Song until I came here. Her first two appearances I found her a pointless foil to the Doctor as I always preferred watching his interactions with Amy, Rory, a weeping angel on a phone, etc. :hehe: However, she really grew on me in the Season 5 finale and she has been used perfectly thus far in Season 6. The revelation at mid-season's end took me by surprise and made her really interesting.

Anyway, I enjoyed this episode a lot. Hitler in the cupboard (Hitler in the closet) was hilarious. The twist with Mels was kind of surprising as I thought she may be a new companion, but I was relieved when she became River Song because I already disliked Mels as a character early on. Most of all I liked the Doctor "dying" by flipping like a fish on the TARDIS and seeing all the companions he'd recently screwed up and felt guilty over. Then showing up in his tuxedo for his death was just a brilliant little stroke.

I only have to wonder if things will change between Amy/Rory and the Doctor? It's pretty clear they lost their daughter and aren't getting her back as they already "raised" her as children. That sort of revelation has to create some sort of bitterness, I would think.

i did like how Moffat disproved that weapons can't be used in the Tardis, although it has been disproved it was a funny moment.

Before it gets removed, one of my favorite parts from "Let's Kill Hitler"

I love River Song (and Alex Kingston :hrt:) but I think if the storyline is carried on beyond series 6, someone needs to give Moffat a slap. Its a nice idea its running out of gas and even I will start to get annoyed if she pops up in series 7. End it at the series finale all nice and wrapped up with a bow and then carry on to greener pastures.

Moffat said that series 7 will be less arc based and more short adventure like the classic series which lends weight to the idea of River not appearing. Though Moffat is a proven liar so what do I know?

if River comes back in Series 7 I think she may just be a special guest for like one episode and one adventure like she kind of was in Series 5 and there won't be much emphasis on her.

I think you are all wrong. I think we are going to be seeing a helluva lot more of River Song. Remember, their timelines are backwards. River dies when the Doctor knows her least and the Doctor knows her the most when they first meet. Yes I tried to make it a snappy rhyme. So, we are going to be seeing a lot more of River. Also, Amy and Rory are her parents. She is going to be around as long as they are around. Lastly, I like River but just not this ep.

Agreed. She is the Doctor's wife. It is only a matter of time until she is a regular companion (unless of course the Doctor re-writes history to save her from her fate and give her a normal childhood).

I don't mind more River in Series 7. I do love the character. But I think it should be toned down or not be the focus of Series 7 to make way for some nice little adventures. Id like to see River as a full companion for a while! :)

Now that we've seen her origin, assuming her arc and The Silence arc are finished this season, there's no real reason to bring River back other than for single episode guest spots.

Uh the Doctor and River were lovers and they had a lot of adventures together. I even think they were married. River's arc is not complete. She may drop out a few episodes but she still has a lot of ground to cover to bring her to the point when she dies.
