Doctor Who - The Regeneration Edition

Am I the only one who thinks its hilarious that people are complaining that the regeneration was too short, when in actuality, it was one of the longest (if not the longest) regenerations we've seen?

I mean, he was regenerating from the time we saw he destroyed the Daleks while atop th tower, to the time we saw him quickly morph into Peter Capaldi.

The quick morph is what people are talking about, it was almost blink and you missed it moment.

I agree, it put the viewer in Clara's shoes, my friend who I saw it with actually yelped.

I've seen people say it was as if Matt Smith sneezed and turned himself into Peter Capaldi. :funny:

So...

Who in here's going to pass the year by catching up on classic Who/audios?

I've gone back to the Third Doctor stuff (I miss Liz Shaw), and going through 8's Dark Eyes mini-series, which is pretty good so far.

It works because it's just a statement on Capaldi. "Any moment now he's a-coming."

And like that... CAPALDI IS STARING IN YOUR **** SOUL YOU ****.

I'm going to try and watch some of the older stuff they've got on Netflix, which isn't much. Maybe watch some of the newer episodes I skipped.

They have a great deal of the classic eps on Dailymotion for whatever reason.

Where is Sawyer with a gif of Capaldi doing a face and things?

The ones on Netflix don't seem to be the remastered ones it really stinks, I've been trying to watch all of Classic Who myself but looks like I'll be buying the DVDs. I actually want to own every single story on DVD now, maybe in random order though. I love 2, 3, and 5 alot and I really want to watch the stories with 7.

Baker had such an awesome presence. I need to watch more of him.

The fissure on Trenzalore was described as scar tissue, weak points in the skin of the universe that the Time Lords could exploit to gain entry into the universe but in and of itself not an outright crack anymore.

Oh I see.

And to your second question. It looked like he was using Handles to run a trans-mat beam, and Handles was extremely bad at its job. For example, reminding him to reroute the phone inside the TARIDS immediately after being asked to do so.

Yeah, I understood the fact Handles was teleporting him, except he already knew the ships were enemies.

The only unidentified ship was the Cybership which he then used the Tardis to land on.

The Weeping Angels clearly attacked the town as seen during the first montage when the Doctor immobilized them using mirrors.

okay.

I really don't see the confusion.

You seem to have answers so answer me this major one. How the heck didn't the Doctor know the planet was Trenzalore when he'd already piloted the Tardis there, against it's will, two episodes ago? The coordinates hadn't changed.

I'm gonna catch up on some downloaded audios that I've been sitting on for a little while to satisfy my Doctor fix... I recently finished The Sirens of Time and Neverland... I've just started Zagreus and when that's done, I'll be giving the Four Doctors a listen and then I'll start on Dark Eyes...

I don't know if that's good or bad. Though seeing how you mentioned Sawyer, I'll assume bad. :o

When I started watching I used a guide that told me which episodes to avoid so I could get through it quicker.

Having said that, I really didn't end up skipping that many. I've seen probably 80% to 85% of them if I had to guess.

Is there some dark corner of tumblr with an infinite amount of Capaldi GIFS? What is your secret?

Though I enjoyed the episode, and Matt was as awesome as one has come to expect, it did seem a bit of a mess.

Capaldi doesn't appear to have done anything with his voice. I suppose I have only grown accustomed to "complete performances" with Matt and Tennant, but it is still slightly disappointing.

He doesn't even have to speak. He can just stare intently at a Dalek and boom, they're ****ed.

Pfft. Like I'm going to give away my secrets. :o

I haven't watched last year's Christmas special yet.

The Snowmen? It's less of a Christmas special and more of the next episode of the season, big Clara stuff and post Pond depression from the Doctor. It's not really one you can skip, it's part of the arc! I'm surprised you didn't see it when it aired!

Oh sorry, not the Snowmen the other one. The Witch and the Wardrobe one.

Oh I see.

Yeah, I understood the fact Handles was teleporting him, except he already knew the ships were enemies.

There were Silurian, Slitheen and Judoon ships in addition to the Papal Mainframe among the fleet, he's got no beef with any of those people.

Admittedly this one is a bit wobbly. The closest thing that makes any sort of sense is he was following the signal source and the planet not being totally busted up threw him off.

Though I don't know if I'd say this is a major one, even if he had known it was Trenzalore at the start he'd still have gone down to the planet to investigate the Gallifreyan signal.

Okay so someone please explain this to me. The town is called Christmas and you can't lie there, it's like Liar Liar Town right? So why didn't someone ask The Doctor his name there? I thought that was going to be the plot and I was like "Oh wow how awesome is that? He's trapped someone where he can't not answer The Question. Brilliant." But it never happened. I cried twice however.
