It's such a waste of greatness to NOT adapt Sailor Moon. I've waited for ages and still no film to happen.
Many years ago, don't remember exactly when, I wanted Kevin Zegers for Tuxedo Mask. But that ship has sailed.

All the characters were asian, the entire cast would most likely be whitewashed, in fact, much fan art usualy has Mars as the only one portrayed as Asian...

Manga/ Anime has plenty of stories with potencial to be adapted, but before going into this type of territory, they should try adapting the most obvious ones first.

Right, I'd certainly have no enthusiasm for a terrible adaptation, like with The Last Airbender.

I obviously don't want to see it whitewashed but if it was more racially diverse like big hero 6 it couldn't possibly fail

If it was well-made and faithful to the anime/manga and its characters, then I would be camping outside of the theater to see it.

My hopes for a well-made, Hollywood Sailor Moon movie are extremely low, though. I have no idea who I'd cast, to be honest.

And as for the "whitewashing" thing: If it happened with some characters, I wouldn't be all up in arms about it, and it would be whitewashing I'd understand (if Hollywood is trying to cast people who look like the characters, that is). Asian or not, the main character is a girl with long blonde hair and blue eyes. I could see why whitewashing would happen with a Sailor Moon movie.

I don't get Sailor Moon. They're supposed to be Japanese Asian characters yet they are drawn to look and resemble Caucasian.

Big round blue, green, brown eyes. Blonde, brown, red hair.

Anime artists have only themselves to blame.

So if they're making a live action Sailor Moon film, I would rather they cast Caucasian actors/actresses than Asian actors/actresses.

Honestly, those character designs could very well be the reason why Sailor Moon is so popular with girls all around the world (for the most part). Culturally, though, the show is still VERY Japanese. While I have been enjoying VizMedia's new dub for being so faithful to the original Japanese version, there are just some things in the original script that a lot of English-speaking audiences would not understand at all. I understand those references, but that's because I'm a big enough fan to do my research. With casual fans, though, some of the dialogue might be really weird to them. As much as I hate the DiC dub from the 1990's, I can see why the adjusted a lot of things for the English-speaking audience, unfortunately.

A Sailor Moon movie could do what the live action drama from 2003 did: All of the girls had black/brunette hair with brown eyes until they transformed into the Sailor Senshi. In their Sailor form, the girls wore wigs (which actually makes sense if you think about it; it hides their identities a LOT better!). In this case, Hollywood could be more inclined to cast Asian actresses for the lead roles.

... But, then again, if the movie did that, then people would be complaining that the Asian actresses are trying to "look white" in order to become powerful superheroes (in which case, I would roll my eyes). Sometimes you just can't win.

The more I talk and think about it, the more I think a Hollywood Sailor Moon movie would be a disaster. :P

Meh, to be honest whitewashing would instantly turn me off it.

Because unlike many American comic books, manga artists aren't making their works because they would like to see it done into movie, they're doing it because they genuinely like the art form. Characters look acording to their personalities, there isn't an universal rule there where things need to be 100% realistic.

No for me.

I remember when Geena Davis was to be Queen Beryl in the nineties...no then.

If it's approached with passion for the material yeah, I'd be for it...but given the track record for anime films...no...
