Comics Does Emma Have The Right TO Be Co-Head of the X-Men & Institute?

Its the opposite of Xavier's plan. Xavier has never wanted to replace humans as the dominant species. He doesnt want dominance by anybody period. He wants peaceful coexistance and above all, trust and cooperation between the two communities.

Until humans are extinct, and mutants are dominant.

Emma directly opposes that. Her speech in Astonishing X-men is a flat-out statement to never trust humans, that "they will always hate us". In fact the part where she says we must restrain from violence looks downright silly considering she just said they will always hate us and attack us whether we are non-violent or not.

They will always hate us. We will never live in a world of peace. Which is why control and non-violence are essential.

 huh? We will never have peace so non-violence is essential?

Regardless, I think its basically one step removed from Magneto.

Emma's just being realistic.

Well, wasn't the whole "mutants will one day become a majority" thing pretty much an inevitability before the Massive Mutant Copout of 05?

Is it realistic that humans will always hate and attack mutants and that mutants should never trust any humans?

Besides, isn't it a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy?

YES IT IS REALISTIC!!!!

Since when in the history of mankind has there ever been a fully resolved conflict between different races?

Hindus & Muslims

Christians & Muslims

Christians & Jews

Whites & Blacks

etc.....

The first species conflict between humans and their neanderthal cousins resulted in the neanderthals extinction.

So seriously tell me, is it really not realistic that 'human's will always hate mutants'. Regardless of how many enlightened individuals there are.

Its like saying in the future there won't be any discrimination and everyone will be civil towards each other. Its a nice thought, but its also a naive way of thinking.

It sounds like something Malcolm X might have said 50 years ago, white people will always hate black people and they should never be trusted, and thats not true at all anymore, is it?

Who said anything about "fully resolved"? At least make a start, right? Look how far Christians and Jews of whites and blacks have come. They're no longer actively hell-bent on slaughtering each other.

For that matter, Hindus got along with Christians and Jews for 12 centuries until the Portuguese came.

Or even the Europeans. French and Germans and English trying to kill each other for centuries and now Europe is so united.

Its not necessarily realistic and its the wrong attitude I feel. It breeds suspicion and distrust and makes violence more likely, not less.

If they have a cynical attitude from the start its just going to undermine any possible good developments that might happen.

Most of the social progresses we've made in our entire history have come from "unrealistic" expectations.

Ask anyone from 100 years ago if they thought women's suffrage was a "realistic" goal.

Ask anyone from 50 years ago if interracial marriage was a "realistic" ideal.

Ask anyone from 25 years ago if gay marriage was.

This whole "We'll never get along" spiel is such a defeatist attitude and I'd argue that, in the large scheme of human events, it's far more unrealistic than thinking that we one day will get along.

Xavier believes it. And if Emma doesn't, then her mindset is very, very different from his.
