That the people who only talk because they like the sounds of their own voices are becoming way to powerful? That the rest of us just aren't willing to stand up to them any more? I'm sorry if this seems odd, I've just a very strange evening, and it has left me feeling very troubled.

Well they're attention ****es, and are good at what they do.:)

Oy, and that's what's sad.

Tell us about your evening.

I have a friend that does that. I honestly feel that I could tell him that I am dying of AIDS, & he wouldn't hear me.

is it so difficult to say "shut the **** up" nowadays?

The ones that are outgoing and talk the most are the ones that get the most attention. The strong, silent type doesn't have the effect it used to.

I think people just get worn down by the incessant chatter and lack of rationale or intelligence. There are far more stupid people in this world with loud voices than there are intelligent ones with loud voices, unfortunately. I think the smart ones are just overwhelmed by the idiots and can't keep up.

Why do these people want to tell us all that they're feeling troubled and had a bad experience, but then they won't tell us why they feel troubled or what happened?
What's the point aside from expressing unhappiness about this vague "event"?

Loud extroverts take power and spineless introverts get walked on and whine about it?
Scintillating.

Clint Eastwood Man With No Name type guys wouldn't get the time of day from people these days. They prefer outgoing metrosexual types who complain about their girlfriends all day and just have to express every emotion :cmad:

Wilhelm, I imagine you and the person that set me off would get along very well.

You have a handful of people that are on the quiet side that garner respect, but for the most part if you're not talking, you're not viewed as a leader. Sadly, the people in society that can't shut up never have anything relevant to say.

More passive, half-hearted attempts to inch in to talking about the real issue, the thing that happened.

You know you want to talk about it. This isn't some academic, abstract thread topic.
Now tell us all what happened.

There are people like that right here on these boards. You can tell them from their self indulgent posts and ginormous post counts. :woot:

Ah, no, no, no, no, no...not going to say it.

It's an odd one. I'm a junior at KU, and an active member of Student Senate. We're responsible for everything related to student fees (not tuition, but everything else), and we allocate that money to different groups and projects. Essentially, we are the ones who give student groups the means to operate. There's one guy, a grad student, who has a bad habit of selective hearing, and will often criticize bills written to fund groups based on things that we've already addressed and clarified to everyone else in the room. Anyway, aside from that, there was a long debate last night over a particular fund, one which involves about $60k of student money, that the committee which he sits on is unhappy that they have no control over. They have caused all sorts of havoc about this, and have basically denied money to certain groups, people who have nothing to do with the conflict, to spite the people who control that fund (it's a board which I am a non-voting member of), and this one guy has led the charge. There was a meeting last night, in which we tried to put forth a compromise with them, going off of a plan which this irritant had proposed to us himself, and he still complained about it. I spent about two hours arguing what should have been a quick and easy subject that was designed to help people with a pompous ass and a few of his friends whose only complaint was they, an unrelated committee, did not have any oversight over something.

So, I left in a very irritated mood, wondering why it is that I bother, when I know full well that something like a student government is going to have plenty of hacks like this, got a bit drunk, and started this thread. And then Wilhelm made fun of me.

you should of taken a gun with you, Nothing gets your opoint across like a loaded gun.

And I didn't tell it last night because I was too spaced-out to want to actually collect my thoughts.

Too many losers at school who think they are cool because they listen to 'cool' music and wear Converse and think they are unique.

You shouldn't make threads when you're drunk.
I learned the hard ways.

Screw Wilhelm.

But welcome to the world of politics. These same issues pervade our national government, a few power hungry and often petty people, making decisions that effect millions. There should be an end to lobbyists and pork barrel crap. That kind of thing keeps the good people from even getting involved in politics. :cmad: Sorry, rant over.

I sense anger in your words. I take it a Converse wearing person has wronged you in some way?

Well, wearing Converse gear is cool. There's no denying that.

No, seriously, these threads where they try to make it look like they're opening a discussion for the sake of discussion, when really they're upset about a very specific thing, but then they're all cryptic and non-forthcoming about the impetus for the thread, are madd-ning.

what about Reebok's? when are those coming back?
