and even then it didnt prohibit supes from commiting his greatest feat in the film.
it seems to singer, krytonite only makes supes weak and powerless when the story demands it.

I think that Singer was trying to show that even if a situation puts Superman on the verge of death, he'll do whatever it takes to save mankind.

It would have been far better to show Superman lifting the island in some kind of containment suit.

i think that it is radioactive. so when he lands first he doesnt notice that there is kryptonite. than slowly it starts to affect him. than the second that he becomes weak as a normal human then lex punches him.after that the radiation is full.
only the green stuff is kryptonite. the other is normal lan mass.

when he lifts NW he is under normal land mass. than when kryptonite starts to grow out than he passes out.

about teh little piece of kryptonite in him. in this movie it matter how bit the kryptonite is. if it is just a small piece it doesnt hurt him very much.

regardless of whether the piece is small or not. ITS KRYPTONITE in his system.
and he didnt pass out when the kryptonite grew. he still carried this island further. with kryptonite in him.
it makes no sense, and is a huge flaw that the film makers expect us to ignore so they can get their big climax on screen where supes pulls a jesus.
