... like in Superman I, you had the trial for Zod and company.. so, does this film set up anything on the future villain front that might be explored in a sequel?

it's very vague, but I say brainiac, as a corrupted (by a giant kryptonite island floating in space) version of the AI that controls the Jor'el hologram. Anyhow, that's my theory.

Martha has a line about Clark not knowing "who is out there". According to a recent interview with the writers, they are keen on bringing other Kryptonians into the series.

What happened to the crystals? Since all of Kryptons knowledge was in there I would have to say that its gonna be brainiac.

There's no hint of other villains.

I've also heard that there's the whole bringing in other Kryptonians (LAME). The only other Kryptonian I want to see is actually an Argosian, and that's Kara, aka Supergirl.

Superman's got enough villains without having to dip into the whole Kryptonian thing or using Kryptonite. They can use Brainiac, Metallo, Parasite, or Darkseid. Personally, I don't see Singer using any of them (or bringing Kara into things), and I think he'll probably go the Kryptonian angle because of Zod.

There are a couple of scenes like the Martha scene, throwing the continent in space, the crystals that were dropped by Kitty, and Lex's comment of the crystals taking on the properties of the minerals around them.

I'd like to see John Corbin as the captain of a vessel that's passing by the island where Lex and Kitty are. He could stop to get them. Then of course Lex could leave Kitty out there. Lex would still have his money and could fund Metallo.

Brainian or the Eradicator would be excellent villains.

You just want Kitty to die.

Nah...true, I didn't care for the character, but I think it would just show Lex slipping a little deeper into the darkness.

From Real estate to kryptonians. That'd be exactly like I and II. God no.

Yeah, I don't want Kryptonians either.

However, with Singer's fetish for the Donner film and the original films, that may be what we get. Singer probably really hasn't read too much with regard to Superman in the comics to get a feel for his villains, or seen any episodes of STAS or JL/JLU.

singer said he was never really a big fan of superman 2
now im not all sure what was donners
and what was the other directors (his name slips my mind)
but i just dont think singer would take that route
i mean i really dont know which villian he could use
i mean metallo and parasite were never real like "heavy hitters"
i was never like oh man superman is in deep **** now
now see i would like to see a brainiac storyline
but NOT the kryptonian technology brainiac
i was always a bigger fan of the
oh im gonna make u see what i want you to see
illusions
mind warping
stuff like that
u know.....stuff actually having to do with the brain
i mean theres so much good stuff they could put in a movie with something like that
make superman believe he is powerless
make superman believe lois is dead
twist his beliefs
good stuff if u ask me
then again
thats just my opinion

Yes, Singer perhaps, but writers Doherty and Harris are big Superman comic fans, aren't they?

Methinks we will get a new version of Zod for the sequel, which isn't great considering the only person who can play Zod is Terence Stamp (well, Terence circa 1978 and 1980).

I think it'd be pretty cool if we did get Metallo, Brainiac, Parasite, and Darkseid. Anything is possible and we know WB will give Singer the budget to make things happen, unlike Fox of course.

So don't be surprised if Metallo or Brainiac does in fact make it to the big screen.

I doubt that they'll bring back Zod. Doing an homage to Superman: The Movie is enough. Don't need to do an homage to Superman II for God's sakes. Hell, SR was probably an homage to both!

How would they bring Zod back? Since SR is a vague sequel, we don't know if he DID exist or if he even step a foot on Earth. But let's say he's been to Earth: How would they explain the Phantom Zone without going into a convolted exposition?

Anyway, Braiaic would be the way to go. And I'd like him to be an android seeking infomation, not a mind warping magican wearing a polo shirt and panties!

darkseid is too big
i mean id love to see it
but think about it
you would have to introduce
apokolips
boom tubes
those little flying monkey warriors
its just too much for a general audience
all u would see is a bunch of plot holes
and a movie that would proabobly skip through faster than x3
....no offense

hey now
while i agree with on the STM and S2
i have to disagree about brainiac
i mean i never understood his motive
IM HERE TO COLLECT INFORMATION ABOUT YOU
AND THEN
WHEN I DO
I WILL DESTROY YOUR PLANET
MAKING MY KNOWLEDGE USELESS
WHOOP WHOOP
and please dont take this as a
"hi im here to bash your brainiac" kind of thing

i like to think of my responses as series of thoughts.
not a drawn out paragraph.
i also find it easier to read.
thanks.

I just prefer the Brainiac from the 90s cartoons. However, you have to admit that it sucks that Brainaic in general doesn't have a definate look besides the spots on his head.

If I had a choice, I would make the Brainaic from the Superman cartoon the official look.
