Fantastic Four 2

As a movie property, "The Silver Surfer" has been in development at 20th Century Fox nearly as long as the 'Fantastic Four' was before that movie was eventually made, and with the success of that movie, Fox apparently saw the opportunity to finally pave the way for the Surfer movie to be made, by using the "Coming of Galactus" storyline in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

The future of this solo movie for the Silver Surfer, then depends very much upon the success of that previous movie. If the second 'Fantastic Four' movie is as well received by the public at large as the first one was, and people take to the Silver Surfer character the way 1960s comic book fans did, then I would say the likelihood of him getting this solo movie made someday is very strong.

On the other hand, if things go poorly, this beloved character could be interpreted (whether by the filmmakers, or the public at large) incorrectly, and the idea of a "Silver Surfer" solo movie could someday in the future be perceived as a joke. My gut feeling, however, is that this won't be the case.

The Doug Jones Experience caught up with the actor the site is devoted to and got a few new words about his character in Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer. Here's a clip:

I am thrilled out of my mind. It has been so difficult for me to sit on this developing news, with all the casting speculation happening on the web. As my research into this character continues, I am falling more and more in love with him ... his valiance, his nobility, his stance for truth, hope, faith, and his history of self-sacrifice. So I fully understand why his fans are talking so much about his introduction appearance in this sequel, and why they would be concerned with who plays him.

Your going to get alot of people whinning in this thread and probaly bashing Story, but I think the fans are going to be more pleased this time around, FF2 is going to suprise everyone come next summer.

I'VE ALWAYS CHAMPIONED FOR SILVER SURFER BEING FIRST PUT INTO A FANTASTIC FOUR MOVIE AND THEN GETTING A SPIN-OFF, INSTEAD OF GETTING HIS OWN MOVIE RIGHT FROM THE GET GO. THANKFULLY 20TH CENTURY FOX IS TAKING THIS ROUTE. IT'S PROBALLY ONE OF THE FEW THINGS THEY ARE DOING RIGHT.

AND A SILVER SURFER SPIN-OFF WILL HAPPEN. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT :o

If FF2 doesn't do well, they probably won't bank on a Silver Surfer movie, not after the "Elektra" debacle.
