Why would I ask this? Well the new Harry Potter movie was really the only direct competition facing War Zone and it's December 5th release. The 6th Potter film was set to be released on November 21st, but Warner Brothers decided to cash in on the weak summer blockbuster schedule for next year and has moved the release to July.

What this means is the only big movie released close to Punisher should be Quantum of Solace on November 7. Providing nothing changes, I say Punisher's chances of a #1 at the box office just got a little better.

I think the spirit comes out near then as well, doesn't it?

I think the punisher will do better than it would have at the box office, mostly because its going to be PG-13

Look in the "PG-13" thread. There has been an update on these so called rumors.

I agree and as a hardcore rated R too:)It's going to be a red,red Christmas you guys:):unishr:

This movie is going to fail to do anything special at the boxoffice like the last movie, Potter or no Potter.

the only reason the 04 punisher didn't succeed at the box office was because of kill bill. in the end, the film made its money back. obviously it makes sense that this film will do better at the box office than 04 if it's not going up against any other major films.

Plus, it's been budgeted at $20,500,000 (whether it's accurate or not, it seems right) it'll be a little easier to gain that back then $35,000,000.

I wish that would have been the case, but c'mon people arent dummies, we will go see something we think is cool. I think it was the fact it didnt look like much of an action film, just your standard typical revenge fair. That year when it came out there were a host of revenge films, if I were average Joe consumer Id consider Punisher 04 at the bottom of my revenge flick viewing list.

Punisher doesn`t ussually have a lot of fans. That`s why all the Punisher movies are on low budget.

It all depends on if the movie is actually good. If it has a poor script then it will suffer at the BO no matter how much tough competition there is. I want a good story first and foremost. I've heard good and bad things about the movie's story. So we'll see come December 5th.

And Iron Man did? That didn't stop his movie from becoming wildly successful. Ok, I've said that too much. But still.

Considering there is only one other movie on the schedule to open up against the Punisher, I'd say it will be number 1 that weekend. That is if it even makes it to theaters. But the second weekend it will drop 75%

sad but true.

Did'nt Harry Potter also begin with a small fan base?

It's probably going to help but it still is going to make next to nothing.

You mean when the 1st movie came out? No, the books were allready extremely popular.

If only we had the same luck Josh.

Indeed, non-comic fans either don't know about it or think that Tom Jane was born for the role and theres not many comic fans too keen on it either. We need a movie that will get people interested, and as good as War zone looks, I don't think it will introduce too many new people to the punisher comics. Oh well...

The only movie this movie really needs to look out for is Twylight. Its gonna bring in tons from the teenage girls who read and love the books.

The new Ron Howard flick Frost/Nixon is opening on the same day as PWZ.

To answer the question this thread poses: No way.
