Days of Future Past DoFP Rogue cut

Another question: When Mystique's at the mansion, does she talk to Wolverine (like in one of the earlier trailers)?

I'm glad Beast and Mystique get an extra scene. It fleshes things a bit out.
The kitchen scene, where Logan calls Raven a "cold-hearted *****"", was replaced with the airport scene basically in the theatrical cut.

The Rogue Cut doesn't even have that scene, and instead only has Hank know that Raven was there to have that moment after the telepathic conversation Charles and Raven have that we see in the theatrical version.

The mid credit scene is just
a shot of trask laying down in the pentagon prison that magneto was in earlier in the film

blink holding a knife to magneto isn't in the rogue cut either

Presumbaly more deleted scenes will be on the extras

Seen it. Not sure what to think of it.

Theatrical version was the right way to go. That has a 91% on RT... this Rogue cut would have gotten an 82%, maybe. Which is not terrible, but not a 91%...

I definitely thought they should kept the dialogue in the temple in the original cut. I liked how Storm was convincing the new mutants that the mission is important and necessary.
The original cut never stuck well with me like a lot was missing and the instantly cut to the past. Here we see that they have been fighting this war for a long time.

yeah probably should have kept that in, made them seem less like characters who will just go along with anything

I would have cut that. It felt weird to me. It's nice seeing all those guys feel a but more involved, but why are we taking the long way to go from point A to B when you can get there so much faster? The pacing gets thrown off...

But that's just me.

This film is definitely much more whole, but I can live with the theatrical version we got.

I do think that scene in the beginning with Bishop and co. + the Beast-Mystique was really necessary. It's understandable though that there would be issues with getting Mystique to the mansion though, which is why it was cut out. Hell, they even totally got rid of the kitchen scene and replaced it with the airport one. Plus, randomly walking to the mansion and destroying Cerebro? I loved the scene for all of the development it gave Hank but yeah, it's kinda wonky leading up to it and afterwards.

Ellen Page acted the hell out of her scenes.

The Rogue rescue was nice as a self-contained thing, but if we were to add more minutes to the film, I could've definitely just lived with more future action scenes and Beast stuff. I think Singer made a good/bold choice in how he streamlined the film. It could've easily gotten out of hand like AoU was.

Ellen Page is the MVP of the THE ROGUE CUT. Her stuff was absolutely wonderful. I mean, when you think about it, Bobby and Kitty are not together by the end of THE LAST STAND but because that film flirted with the idea of it, you bought it mostly that they later on got together in the theatrical. In this ROGUE CUT, frankly, I'm slightly turned off that we have Rogue and Bobby back together in the new future after seeing what Page brought to the table.

Having said that, Anna Paquin showed the proper emotional range when Bobby bites it in the mansion so I buy them as well.

It's tough, this ROGUE CUT. On the one hand, it's got some great extensions of previous scenes. On the other, the prison break and Raven returning to the mansion don't make logical sense, considering the pace that the film is headed in when barreling towards the climax.

Does it feel more complete? Kind of, yeah. But, we lose the effortlessness of the theatrical cut along with some plot/character logic as well.

I just watched the first 18 minutes. I really have no idea why they cut anything from these future scene. It is so much better with these little moments of dialogue! I think they really should have kept the beginning like this for the theatre cut. It is maybe a minute or two longer but a lot better.

Looking forward to see this as soon as my DVD arrives...

So Rogue and Kitty scenes are great! Liked it very much.

I have even spotted Emma Frost in a new future or it is my imagination :D

The quicksilver sister "go upstairs and bother your sister" wink is there too

Now that I've read about how this rogue cut turned out, I'm glad it was not used in the theatrical version. Maybe this is why Anna Paquin was satisfied with her only scene being cut out. It still would've been better to cut Rogue from the get go because of true blood instead of wasting Anna's time. If an actor doesn't have time for a major role then don't ask them to return just for the sake of inclusion.:o

Just watched...
The extended beginning without a doubt should've been left in. Just a few extra minutes the gives everyone in the future a little more development (even the Kitty/Bobby scene was perfect)

The Rogue scenes itself, while cool, really did not serve a purpose. Also, why the hell would they leave Kitty alive hanging out in the temple (and even saving Magneto)?? I was expecting Rogue to completely drain her to death, yet she is there until the end... I mean, it was cool that she saved Magneto, but what the hell was the point of utilizing Rogue, if you were to keep Kitty alive? So yeah, as much as it pains me to say it, I'm glad they cut her stuff out from the theatrical cut.

Interesting reading everyone's thoughts on this. I can't wait to get my copy. Was hoping it would be in a bit earlier at the store but no call so far.

I'm away with work on the 14th!!!! 😢 gonna have to wait a little longer

Yeah I was expecting [BLACKOUT]Rogue to drain her to death -- just to show the desperation of the situation and to raise the stakes of how essential it was now for Logan to succeed. Having her survive and even rescue Magneto seems to undercut Rogue's necessity.[/BLACKOUT] Rogue's role was a good idea but it seems like a sloppy execution (especially with Anna having barely any dialogue).

Does it even make sense for rogue to hold on to Logan with kitty's powers while kitty can still use her phase powers? I might be wrong but when rogue takes their powers shouldn't they lose them?

That's not how Rogue's powers work, she doesn't take mutants abilities and leave them powerless.

Oh right wasn't that the case in X1 with Logan?

I also remember that was the case with the 90s cartoon

I've always interpreted Rogue's powers as being like sucking energy from a battery that can recharge itself. She's not taking powers, using them, then passing them back to people. She's taking them, using them, then they dissipate; and in the meantime the other person just recovers on their own.
