Don Cheadle joins IRON MAN 2!!!

?

Do you agree with Don Cheadle taking over for Terrence Howard in Iron Man 2?

  1. I'm all for it, bring on Don Cheadle!

  2. Recasting sucks. Marvel should have kept Terrence Howard!

  3. I don't care one way or the other.

I liked Howard, don't like Cheadle for the role.

If they had to replace the actor maybe they could've gone with someone who at least resembles Terrence Howard instead like this guy, Gary Dourdan from CSI,

    Oh well, too late now.

Well I can understand the bussiness aspect of it and what not but i can't see why they wouldnt spend at least a day screening people for the role. The choice just seems halfcocked.

Don is one of my favorite actors and I think that he has incredible range, but he's not War Machine.:down

I think he'll do a heck of a job with the material, but Howard was/still is Rhodey. What's up with the stingy approach to a guaranteed blockbuster Marvel? You guys tried to screw John and now you choose not to pay Howard? Ridiculous.:down

If the second one is as good or better than the first, it will do at least 300 million domestically. Share some.

Correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't Don Cheadle's pay check be alot more then anything Howard would ask for since he is an A Lister ? I would think there is alot more going on here then Howard wanting more money

In short, this is how I see things. Cheadle is no bum, he commands a good paycheck being the A-list actor that he is. Naturally, Howard wanted more money than whatever they're paying Cheadle. Basically, what Howard wanted to be paid must have been so ridiculously high that Marvel could pay another A-list actor and save money. Looks like greed got to Howard IMO. That's business. If someone tries to screw you over, you take your business elsewhere.

^I would agree with you about Howard, but Marvel tried to screw the director out of his money for the sequel, so I'm leaning in Howard's favor at the moment. I don't know any details, but I'm have a feeling that we're going to hear a lot of things like this from future Marvel films.

They've had issues with Norton<didn't even give him a writing credit>, Favreau<they didn't want to pay him for the sequel>, and now Howard.

^ Marvel doesn't decide who gets writing credit, and TIH wasn't the first time Norton has been screwed out of getting writing credit for a film.

sorry, erik king was born to be john stewart :o

the writing credit isn't a marvel thing, yes.

but how the film is cut, is def a marvel thing. if anything, norton probably didn't care that his name wasn't put on credits as the theatrical cut of the film was different from the film he wrote

you're saying i'm assuming one thing, while you're assuming the other. the mere fact that there was that crap going on between marvel and favreau after he knocked this movie out of the park for them is suspect. the whole norton thing, the rushing the sequel thing, etc...

as somebody already said, it just seems like they're going off half-cocked. we don't know how long the negotiations took place for, but this was certainly out of left field. they immediately went with their backup pick without a single screentest or even a script.

certainly cheadle is a great actor, but it just seems like marvel doesn't want to give out bigger pieces of the pie, especially to those who've earned it

all the people complaining about howard not doing a spectacular job in iron man seemed to have forgotten that many of his scenes were cut/limited b/c they hinged on air force approval. he didn't have a ton of stuff to work with, and yet he still made it work imo. his chemistry with rdj was very natural

Earned it? By playing the role once, then giving a bunch of crappy interviews where he thinks HE's the main show.

Howard wanted more money. His Oscar buzz made him full of himself in addition to him being sold (by somebody) on the fact that WM was going to be HIS cash cow.

    Good damn riddance.

i agree with why terrance decided he should get more money, because he is a big star nowadays and deserves it. marvel should have thought about that before signing him for the first film. i dont see why marvel went back on there word of using the actors that have been established for future movies.

just give him a little bit more cash and figure this thing out, the guys an alright actor and i was really looking forward to seeing him in the suit and getting more screen time.

They should just have RDJ play both Rhodes and Stark. He can pull it off.
