Just saw this and all i can say is do not miss the start and do not miss the ending. This movie has been shot very well, with the locations and cinematography at its best. The start of the movie goes a bit slow and then picks up pace. I think Shahrukh has not over acted this time. The cast has been chosen perfectly to do their job. This movie is a bit different from the original Amitabh Bachchan's DON, so comparing both the new and old movie is out of the question. Each one of them is good in its own league. For the people who have seen the original DON, at first, you start to think that it might not be so good, and justice has not been made to the original. As the movie goes on, you start to change your mind. As for me, the overall the movie was really good and worth every bit of money paid to watch the movie.

Looks like a typical B-grade Bollywood flick. Heh.

That’s what I taught when I walked in…believe me the storyline is as good as the bourne flicks. Sure there are a few homage to Hollywood flicks here and there but its original (as in an updated take of the 1978 one) think of this one as bollywood’s KONG

I never really liked Bollywood films, and that Shahrukh guy pisses me off to no end. Looks like a college kid trying too hard to appear all cool and edgy. Besides, I can't stand all those suckass dance routines that simply pop out of nowhere. Give me a real film in which a couple of jackasses don't just jump into the background and make a pathetic joke out of themselves...perhaps then I might be compelled to take a look. Until then, the Indians should try learning from the Chinese on how to crank out great foreign cinema.

Hey I always fast forward during the song and dance routines, you’re right about that Shahrukh but then again he’s the one that represent the globalization of bollywood. I think they’re heading there slowly did you see this movie black ? its perfect and beautiful up there with amilie and most of the other foreign films in my list

I don't think Bollywood has ever achieved globalization. Their growth is mostly attributed to the increasing number of immigrant south-east Asian communities around the world. Most of the "big name" schmucks in Bollywood still aren't half as talented or creative as the folks working in Chinese cinema. Nor are they sophisticated enough to be called as a true global filmmaking industry. Besides, if Shahrukh is a representative of global cinema, then I feel bad for the Indians already. :(

Sadly, I was one of those few dopes who bought into Black's hype from all my Indian friends. Can't believe I fell for that. It's an excellent example of a film trying way too hard to make it's audience cry. Everytime a remotely "emotional" moment makes it's way onto the screen, suddenly we see the director focusing on it way too much and the same notes of music is being played repeatedly over and over again which very much gives you the impression that it is being forced upon you. Then there are those performances - talk about overacting.

Heck, of all the Bollywood films I've seen so far, the only ones I ever liked were Lagaan, Dil Chahta Hai, the recent Rang De Basanti, Akele Hum Akele Tum (coincidentally all of the same actor I think, can't remember his name) and especially Mughale-Azam (now THAT was a mesmerising musical  ) and believe me, considering the number of Indian movies, both old and new, I've been forced to watch over the last two years (I've got a whole lot of Indian and Bangladeshi friends who are complete morons when it comes to taste in films considering they watch so many Bollywood films), that is dangerously low number.
