The answer between those two is clearly Rogue One. Although my #1 would be The Empire Strikes Back.

Rogue One and The Mandalorian are the best things to come out of Disney SW though.

I really enjoyed The Force Awakens at the time, despite the valid criticisms of it being a reworked A New Hope, but what came after really soured the sequel trilogy to me.

No. Rogue One was lacking characters and something to do in the third act. Rise got butchered in the edit and the need to "redeem" Kylo. By the Force, watch a Star Wars Lily.

For only having two scenes, they did an awesome job making Vader actually menacing again after the prequels’ “I was a teenage Sith Lord”. In fact, that second scene is IMO the scariest Vader has ever been.

Vader's cameos in that film are legitimately the best thing about it, and that is kind of the problem.

I appreciate some of the same qualities about Rogue One that I do about The Mandalorian: the more nitty gritty world-building that doesn’t paint everything in absolute black and white. Like how Rogue One portrays the resistance as doing a lot of shady stuff for the greater good, and how The Mandalorian actually—-gasp shock—-portrays Tusken Raiders with an actual culture and not just one note marauders.
