Dr strange is one of my favorite characters. I'm hoping he will do for supernatural marvel what guardians did for cosmic Marvel. I'm probably biased here but 700 million worldwide is what I'm feeling.

I'm sure it will do well! Its Doctor freaking Strange!

Right now I think
Domestic: $220 Million
Worldwide: $720 Million

with recent casting news, the sky is the limit.

Let's see, I am sure it will do more than the first Thor and Cap, I see it making close to 300 mil or surpassing it.

Domestic: 290

WW: 1 billion

You guys need meds.

This ain't making Guardians money.

/devil's advocate

Well, to be fair, very few of us expected Guardians to make Guardians money ;)

I think this could break out in a big way overseas. In Europe and in Asia, it's likely to be huge.

Domestic, I'd say anything around $250-275.

I think the floor is $800m WW. Assuming Ant-Man and the other films continue the trend the MCU has been on no way it does anything less

Based on past experience with Marvel Studios films, I've come to accept that my prediction for box office should be, "Highest realistic estimate... then add a couple of hundred million."

I'm guessing around 400 (I voted 300 by mistake). I'm not sold on a horror/supernatural film making a lot of money, regardless of studio...it's a small genre/niche market. There was no prior demand for a Strange film and that is where Marvel Studios will have act - make the general public feel like they NEED to see it.

Benedict Cumbercatch having established his army of fangirls can contribute to the audience coming to see this movie.

Note that Cumberbatch's profile is only increasing. He did star in an academy award nominee just this last year, after all.

I bet there will be the "Academy Award Nominee" label, to get the general public interested in seeing Cumberbatch in this role.

Benedict Cumberbatch's Name=200 Mill.
Dr. Strange=100 mill
Marvel=50 Mill
So I'd say 350 Mill world wide maybe a bit more.

I'd change that to. Marvel Name=300 mill
and Cumberbatch's Name=50 mill

If I had to guess no less that 550 mill

After GotG, I can't really see any WW prediction for any Marvel movie below 500M.

On a 75-80% Tomato Meter:

Domestic: $208 M
Foreign: $389 M
Worldwide Total: $597 M
>90% Tomato Meter/ A+ Cinescore: $716.4 M
<70% Tomato Meter/ <A Cinescore: $477.6 M

Sounds believable, especially with multiple Oscar nominated actors on the cast.

Man, this is the film I really hope does well.

But between it being a fall release and the Harry Potter Spin-off opening two weeks after it my guess is it'll end up somewhere close to Ant-man's total.

Plus he is pretty big in China.

Sherlock: The Abominable Bride is getting an extended run in all cinemas across China beginning on January 4.

Sherlock gets hundreds of millions of views on streaming sites in China.

Even the official publication of the Communist Party, the People’s Daily loves the show and Cumberbatch.

Agreed definitely with this.

Plus Fantastic Beasts is gonna hurt this film on its second week.
