Know all those tournaments that ask you to vote on which character would beat which character? Ever wanted to pit a group of super heroes against each other? How about a group of villains. Or maybe mix and match teams of characters in an epic tournament?
Well, you can in the Dream Team League.
So, here's how it's worked the last few seasons. Each owner puts together a team of characters. Each week, they pick 5 of their team to fight against the 5 their opponent picks. Everyone writes about how their team would win, trying to convince voters to vote for them. The teams with the most votes wins their match.
We have a season of matches, then playoffs for the best performing teams until we have a champion.
It's a lot of fun. Especially if you like debating comics. And we also shoot the ****, talking about comics and life in our general discussion thread.
There are some rules, but, as the League Commissioner (a title bestowed on me by the once great and almighty Johnny Blaze), I'm taking this opportunity to put all the rules on the line. Meaning they're all up for debate and change. So, here are those rules:
* Teams of 12 characters, 5 at a time battle in a match. (The other 7 stay on the 'bench')
* Characters are broken up into classes. Uber, Middleweight, Regular. Think Superman & Thor, Aquaman & Vision, Batman & Spider-Man falling into those ranks.
* You can take 2 ubers, 1 middleweight, and 2 regulars into a match. If you want to take a weaker team into the fight, go right ahead.
* Your team gets 24 hours of prep-time using whatever resources they'd normally have access to in order to prepare for the match.
* Write the fight however you want. Describe the battle, write the battle, or just make an argument why your guys win.
* You get a couple of days to write, a couple of days to read everyone else's stuff, and a couple of days to vote.
* A couple of times a season we have a special theme week to spice things up.
Those are the basics. There's some more detailed rules, which I'll get into later, but that's the gist of the League.
So, got any questions, suggestions, general interest? Let's here them.
