UK, May 29, 2008 - Action flick Ancient History looks to have a bright future, with DreamWorks resuscitating the long-gestating project.

Story concerns a man who purposely gets himself incarcerated (a la TV's Prison Break) so that he can search for treasure hidden somewhere in the compound.

Hot property Dan Scardapane (currently writing Fed X for Hugh Jackman and a remake of The Mission for Peter Berg) will completely overhaul the script, which is based on an idea by Bonaventura Pictures' Mark Vahradian.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Scardapane will change the film's setting and update it to present day.

Aww man, updating it to modern day? I was totally with that synopsis up until I read that. Keep it in the ancient past.

I can see why that sold as a screenplay. It's perfect.
