The rules:
This is one of four threads containing matches.
The threads will be in use for 9 days. Days 1-4 (Dec 6-9) are strictly setup time for owners to plead their cases, tell us their team’s strategies, breakdown the match ups, and do whatever else they can/want to do to try and convince you that their team would pull out a victory. Please, let the owners do this on their own with no help from you, the fan. Owners can debate only when their opponenet has finished posting their writeup.

On Day 5 (Dec 10) I will post and tell everyone that voting may begin. Only after doing so will voting start. Any votes cast before I open voting will not count.

Look over the matchups and read the owners strategies and take into consideration how in-character each character is. Afterwards, use your best judgment to decide who you think has the best chance to win the match up. (Note: The length of a writeup is up to the owner. Do not punish owners just for having a shorter writeup.)

To vote, post the team names you think will prevail in each match. Remember, to vote for each match up or your vote will not count! The teams with the highest vote total at the end of the 7th day (Dec 12) will get a W while the other will get an L. (Equal votes will result in a tie.)

How is Martian manhunter a middle or am I missing something?

It's Mgann, she's not as powerful as J'onn.

Sorry. I usually do but this time I was in a hurry to put up the links and descriptions

I actually had Over-Mind in this weeks line up instead of Weird.

How come Nameless Wonders is still has Silver Surfer in the lineup, even though Aristotle took him?

I don't mind being up against Surfer, I just want to know for sure who I'm fighting before I write anything.

Because I changed the roster, but forgot to adjust the lineup. I'll swap him out.

Zauriel (DR)

I'm going to keep it short, since I don't have any opponent this week.

Knowledge
My team is all Marvel, my opponents are all DC. So neither team knows anything about the other to start. But the difference -- Ghost can easily hack into the Titans Tower computer system and find detailed files about most of the people we're up against. Taking control of tech is one of his specialties. While we're at it, we should be able to take control of the Tower's security system as well

The Magus vs. Fernus
Once we know who Fernus is, my team will know the Magus is the perfect opponent for him. Invisibility or shapeshifting won't hide him from the Magus's hyper-senses, and then Magus teleports right to him.

The reason Magus has the advantage in this fight is that he is completely resistant to telepathy. Magus is the future Adam Warlock, and Warlock has always been able to thwart telepathy. Here's an example: With the Mind Gem, Moondragon was able to psi-blast Professor X into a coma. And yet, when she tried to invade Adam's mind while he was already in a coma, he was still able to forcibly toss her out. That's how good his psi-defense is.

Without telepathy, Fernus has lost his main weapon. Sure, he can try to fight Magus physically, but here Magus has the advantage. Fernus's only real edge is that he's faster. Magus is stronger and more durable -- at least until Fernus grows to massive size, at which point he's negated his speed advantage by making himself such a large target. Magus has substantially better energy projection. Intangibility is a wash since they both have it, and Magus's teleportation gives him a maneuverability advantage to counter Fernus's speed. Plus if all else fails Magus could hit Fernus with a soul-based attack -- for which he has no defense, and which could affect him even while intangible.

But I don't think it will come to that. Fernus wouldn't know Magus can't be hurt by telepathy, so he'd start the battle with a telepathic attack. When this does nothing, a surprised Fernus is hit by a massive energy blast, and Magus then presses his advantage raining down blows. He tries to shapeshift into a tougher form, but there's only so big he can get trapped in the confines of Titan's Tower, and by the time he breaks through the exterior wall he's already taken quite a beating. Magus finishes him off with another blast of energy. Or maybe he'll get creative and slice him in two with a teleportational portal. Either way, Magus, wins.

Loki (The Reigning) vs. Flash (Titans of Tomorrow)
Loki would prepare for Flash's speed by littering the battlefield with illusions -- say, a million illusory copies of themselves. All the speed in the world won't help him if he can't find the people he's trying to hit. Of course, Flash could still keep moving too fast for my team to hit -- so Loki needs to slow him down. He does this by tripping Flash up with an invisible barrier. Flash wouldn't phase through it because he wouldn't know it was there -- plus he'd probably want to be solid to try to find his opponents by feel, even if he couldn't find them by sight.

As soon as Flash hits the barrier, Loki (who was hiding invisibly next to it) hits him with a levitation spell. He can't run if he's stuck in mid-air. So that takes out most of the ways he can attack Loki (especially if Loki hangs back to try to keep him from stealing his speed and such). Maybe Flash can accelerate some other objects into Loki -- although I don't think he can do this to objects that aren't already moving -- but Loki can throw up a forcefield to block them. Meanwhile, with Flash stuck in place, Loki has no problem finishing him off with a series of magical energy bolts.

Everyone Else vs. Everyone Else
Blue Beetle and Zauriel fly through the corridors of Titan's Tower, searching for their foes. But my team has taken control of the security surveillance system, allowing them to get the drop on their opponents. Magneto takes the fight to Blue Beetle with a electromagnetic pulse, frying his high-tech battle suit. Zauriel zooms towards him at high speed, and Magneto turns to face him, as an invisible Ghost finishes Blue Beetle off with a barrage from a pair of plasma-guns.

Although she can't see Ghost, Traci Thirteen targets the spot his shots emanated from, and fires a bolt of magical energy. She sees Ghost appear just as he phases through a wall, evading the attack. Circling around, he passes through another wall behind her, and she's only narrowly able to throw up a magical forcefield in front of her to stop his attack. But Ghost was just setting her up, and now that he's backed her into position, he transmits a signal to a hidden explosive, which detonates beneath her feet and takes her out.

As for Zauriel, although he can fly at high-speed, his maneuverability is greatly limited by the fact that they're indoors. Magneto has snared him with tendrils of metal pulled from the wall of the building. As strong as Zauriel is, Magneto can magnetically reinforce the molecular bonds of the metal to make it strong enough to hold him. (When Polaris was possessed by Malice, she did something similar to entrap Rogue, who also has super-strength.) With the metal wrapping around his arms, he can't even swing his sword to cut himself free. But he still has one attack available -- his sonic scream. He unleases a blast of sound, forcing Magneto back as his forcefield barely manages to hold.

But Magneto's already done his part -- by holding Zauriel in place, he set him up for a massive plasma-blast from Havok. Zauriel has high-durability, but still only at reg-level. Havok's blasts have caused the Hulk pain, they're more powerful (although less controlled) than Cyclops's blasts that have taken down highly durable ubers like Apocalypse. And this is the evil, Age of Apocalypse Havok, who doesn't hold back like the mainstream Marvel Universe version. Zauriel absorbs the brunt of a full power blast, and is finished.

Deadly Dozen win

Gosh, this is such a tough match. I mean there are 4 ubers on Who's team! :)

Prep Time for Everybody in the casa mare

Wonder Woman, Deadpool, M'gann and Thordis were in a room in the Titan Towers, leaning with their backs against the walls, bored and tired, waiting. Thordis counted the notches on her hammer. Wonder Woman stared at the ceiling. M'gann stared at the two doors behind which Dead Girl had disapperead, and Deadpoolm was also staring... at M'gann's chest.
- So, he asked casually, can you make them bigger...?
Thordis slapped him across the back of his head, since she was in closest proximity to him and mouthed the words: "God!"
- What!? Deadpool asked rubbing his head. What did I say!? It's a legitimate question. Like you wouldn't ask Reed Richards about his Mjolnir...
- Silence! Wonder Woman assertively said. I think she's coming back.
Dead Girl's head popped out from behind the doors and whispered to Diana:
- They're here. You can work your magic.

Diana stepped inside the great hall of fallen heroes deep inside the Titan's Tower. She stood in the shadow of Kole's statue, and stared at two rows of other such monuments. Out of each one, a smokey form emerged. Kole, Hawk, Dove, Golden Eagle, Tula and Omen all appeared, under the guises of ghosts.

- Greetings my friends. You all know me.
- Wonder Woman, Hawk nodded.
- Any particular reason you are pulling a Oda Mae on us? Kole asked.
The others stared at her.
- Oda Mae? The medium from Ghost?
More staring.
-Nevermind.
- I need your help, Wonder Woman quickly said. There are strangers here. From another universe, isnide the tower. They are our oponents.
- We know, Dove replied. Five of them. I don't recognise any of them... but I don't recognise some of the people you're with either.
- But you know me, Don. You trust me, don't you? Wonder Woman asked.
- I jsut don't understand what this... fight... has to do with us?
- Who cares, Don!? Hank rebuttled. It's a chance for us to get some action! What do you want us to do?
- Thank you Hank. I need everybody's help. I need you to tell me all you have noticed about our oponents.
- I can tell you this, Golden Eagle drummed in. One of them is a technopath. He's going to use the tower's technology against you. He has already begun taking control.
- That must be Doom... Can you slow him down?
- We'll try, Golden Eagle answered. As ghosts we have some degree of influence of the electro-magnetic spectrum... but not a lot.
- I will take whatever you can offer me friend. Wonder Woman looked around and noticed somebody was missing. She then looked at Dead Girl. Were you unable to contact a girl called Terra?
- She... she's not coming, Dead Girl said quietly.
- Alright, Wonder Woman whispered and sighed. Time grows short. Here's what we're going to do...

Battle
(no creative stuff this week... :( I just wanted to post something)

First of all, knowing that Doom is trying to take control of the tower, Thordis places her hand on a eletrical panel and sends a massive electrical shock throughout the tower, thereby knocking Doom out while he was conected to the machinery and also turning off the entire system. So now they're going to fight in total darkness.

Wonder Woman would fight Over-mind because his telepathy would be useless against her, just like Maxwell Lord couldn't control her. So it would come down to a battle of strength and Wonder Woman is a godess and skilled combatant. Without the crutch of his telepathy, Overmind is going down.

Thordis would fight Starhawk. Thordis needs only wait the game out until Starhawk throws a sufficient amount of energy at her for Mjolnr to absorb and redirect it. Given that Mjolnir is a mystical artifact (and can also generate mystical energy) I don't think Starhwak's cosmic awareness could properly indicate how the weapon would react.

M'gann would fight Ganymede, who may be a skilled warrior, but M'gann will at first attack her viciously and then take her by surprise phasing a hand through her chest, killing her.

That leaves Deadpool and Dead Girl fighting together to defeat Magik. Now Magik may have teleportation abilities but the ghosts Deadpool and Dead Girl have the ghosts inside the Tower to help them. Whenever Magik would teleport away and feel safe, the ghosts would let Deadpool know where she is and he would teleport there too. Deadpool will probably be put out of comission since he's not that efficient against somebody with magic powers, but Dead Girl is. She can turn intangible and really can't be killed.

Who? has promised a writeup tonight, so I'll hold off voting until then.

Prep

Over-Mind mind links my team. Starhawk then uses his CA to find out about the other team. With the mindlink up this will give my entire team instant info about the other team. Doom then hacks into the Tower. Doom tweaks his armor knowing he will face a telepath. Doom tells everyone what the plan is and how this will go down. He ends it with a high five. Which makes me wonder if he has been replaced by a skrull.

Battle

Using Starhawks CA and the Titan's Tower itself my team locates the other team. Starhawk takes off after WW while Magik teleports her other teammates to their foes.

Starhawk vs. WW

Starhawk uses his incredible speed to engage WW. He quickly encases her lasso in a light construct. WW quickly smashes the construct but before she can react Starhawk nails her with a large blast. The blast sends WW shooting out of the tower. WW quickly rises to face Starhawk who is racing towards her.

Over-Mind vs. Thordis

Having been teleported to Thordis's location he quickly engages Thordis. Thordis quickly reacting to Over-Mind lands several titanic blows that literally shake the tower but to one who has shrugged off blows from Hulk and Hyperion it is nowhere near enough. Over-Mind smacks her aside with a smile. Thordis quickly hits Over-Mind with a series of lightning strikes and hammer blasts. Over-Mind seems hurt. Thordis quickly rushes to end the fight but as she comes closer she notices Over-Mind is glowing. Over-Mind turns and unleashes Thordis's own blast directly at her. Over-Mind quickly follows with a powerful psi-blast. This leaves Thordis down but not out. Thordis quickly rises expecting her foe to be on top of her but finds Over-Mind running away. She gives chase.

Doom, Magik 2, and Ganymede vs. Deadgirl, Deadpool, and MM

Having found out about MM's weakness and forcefield Doom quickly thinks up a plan. Doom lights an area on fire and demands Magik to teleport it inside MM's forcefield. MM is very surprised by this and finds she must drop her forcefield to escape from the fire. As she does this Doom quickly hits her with a full powered blast and then continues to light the surrounding area on fire. This proves to be to much for the martian.

Ganymede will of been keeping Dead Girl and Deadpool busy. Using her enhanced speed, flight belt, and MA's she keeps one step ahead of the duo stalling them long enough for Doom and Magik to finish MM. Dead Girl seems to of managed to catch Ganymede by surprise and is almost directly on top of her. As DG prepares to attack she suddenly finds the Soulsword stuck into her. Using the mindlink Magik knew Ganymede was in trouble and where she was. The Soulsword should effect DG similar to how it could effect Shadowcat. Magik quickly blasts DG with a magic blast and promptly teleports her away if she is still standing. Ganymede has taken on Deadpool. While DP can heal from all kinds of crazzzaay stuff he can still be knocked out. After a cool fight Ganymede does just that.

Starhawk and Over-Mind vs. WW and Thordis

Thordis chases Over-Mind outside and finds a terrible sight. She see's Starhawk overcoming WW. She jumps at Starhawk and lands several earth shaking blows which sends Starhawk flying. Thordis follows with a blast but is surprised when WW also blasts Starhawk. As she stares ahead the illusion falls and she see's an unconcious WW. Shocked she turns to face Starhawk and Over-Mind. Over-Mind gives her a brief rundown on how he let her attack him so he could work his way past any of Thordis's mental defenses/resistences. Thordis fights with great courage but cannot overcome the combined power of Over-Mind and Starhawk.

The Deadly Dozen vs. the Nameless Wonders: No defense. Pretty good write-up besides that.
Who? vs. Everybody in the Casa Mare: The more convincing write-up.

Here are a few problems I have with LadyV's write up.

Thordis is taking out Doom?

Seems Thordis is attacking a med right off the bat. I don't think that is allowed. At best that would only stun Doom momentarily as well.

WW is immune to tp?

I don't know a whole lot about WW but the Maxwell Lord incident isn't that impressive considering he was a fairly low level telepath. At least when compared to Over-Mind.

Not being able to be controlled by a telepath doesn't give them immunity against psi blasts. Take Hulk for example. Multiple telepaths have failed to control him but Over-Mind struck him down with a psi blast.

Starhawk has faced Thor.

He shouldn't be to surprised by Mjolnir. He has faced Thor as both an enemy and ally. So he should know more then enough about Thordis and her abilities if his CA for some reason can't alert him to any surprises.

I know that we're not supposed to attack regulars with ubers, not mediums. Also, the idea is to prevent blitz victories, but I said it and I'll say it again, if circumstances allow for an uber attack over somebody with lower power levels, I will pursue that course of action. And as I saw this match, the circumstances did allow. And given that the lightning is part mystical in nature, I think it could knock Doom out.

If Maxwell Lord could have complete control over Superman I don't think he's so low level. Besides, Wonder Woman has the golden lasso which also protects her from mind control. And yes I think she does have higher resistance than Hulk She IS a goddess. And she would take advantage of the time she has before Over-mind finally realizes that he really can't attack her telepathically. Also I think she's fast enough to dodge psi-blasts, unlike Hulk.

He has faced Thor, but not Thordis. Unless when he faced Thor he found some way around his hammer absorbing his energy, I don't see how that is relevant.

I am voting as may Khell, so his votes should count over mine if only one of is taken:

The Deadly Dozen - good write up for an unchallenged combat
Who - Don't like the Doom was attacked off the bat by Thordis, plus I thought Who's battle was more believable. It was tight however.
