    The rules:
This is one of four threads containing matches.
Due to the holiday, these threads will be in use for 9 days. Days 1-4 (Jan 16 - Jan 19) are strictly setup time for owners to plead their cases, tell us their team’s strategies, breakdown the match ups, and do whatever else they can/want to do to try and convince you that their team would pull out a victory. Please, let the owners do this on their own with no help.

On Day 5 (Jan 20) I will post and tell everyone that voting may begin. Any votes cast before I open voting will not count. Look over the matchups and read the strategies, and take into consideration how in-character each character is. Afterwards, use your best judgment to decide who you think has the best chance to win the match. (Note: The length of a writeup the discretion of the owner. Do not punish owners just for having a shorter writeup.)

To vote, post the team names you think will prevail in each match. Remember to vote for all matches or your vote will not count! The teams with the highest vote total at the end of the 9th day (Jan 24) will get a W while the other will get an L. (Equal votes will result in a tie.)

    Prep Time

Once again the team meet. they have fought together many battles as of now. As usual Cable and Xavier create a telepthic link which includes all 8 (3 mini-Mon-elves) allowing all to share information at the speed of thought. One thing they all realise quickly eventhough Brainiac is really the first one to do so is that the opposing team all come from the marvel universe and therefore could only have the slightest bit of knowledge of Brainiac, the Mon-elves or Midnighter.

The area they will fight in is devestated and Brainiac is able to fill them in on what had happenned taking it from the history files he has had access to.

They decide on a strategy one where Cable and Xavier will fight Starhawk and Overmind wheras the others will stick together to face Doom, Ganymede and Majik.

    Notes:

I have checked overmind and based on his profiles he has strength of 10 tons without augmenting himself up to 70 tons using his psychic energies. His telepathic powers were very powerful.

    Regarding Starhawk's precognition,
Therefore there is no way he could have precognition for these battles which are outside of his life cycle. Plus his superstrength was at 2 tons except for once where he augmented himself (using all the light energy) in order to do battle with Thor. But it was a one time feat.

Regarding my own team, note that each mini-Mon-el has 1/8th of the power of Mon-El who had pretty much the same power as Superman. Therefore we are talking eye blasts, super speed, super strength and so on....

On another note Cable has been able to do battle at the speed of light (with his mind).

Regarding the toxic waste which is around, Cable gathers it all then Brainiac teleports it into the sun.

    The Battle:

As soon as the battle starts, Wolverine goes into cloak mode (Jean grey and Xavier were not able to detect him when his cloaking devoce was on).

The three who know each other well by now and they stay close, but not too close. The Mon-elves stay hidden around Brainiac 417. Doom, Ganymede and Magik appear before them. Doom immediately attempts to take over Brainiac's technology but Brainiac having been prepared prevents it from happening especially as his alien technology from the 853rd century in the DC universe is beyond anything Doom has ever seen or felt. Plus Brainiac's intellect is even above his own. At the same time two of the Mon-elves come out at super speed (think 1/8th the speed of Superman, which is far beyond the speed Doom 2099 can fight at) and attempt to hit him but they phase right through. Brainiac works on his device while the Mon elves keep Doom occupied who takes a few hits at 1/8th the power of Superman (1/8th the power of a planet mover) which includes hits as well beams shot out of thier eyes. Doom has a hard time but he holds his own....

Ganymede faces Midnighter and who as soon as he starts fighting her realises he is outmatched. One of the Mon-elves comes and hits her from behind. She certainly feels the blow, and realises she is really fighting the Mon-el while Midnighter is doing his best to help. She eventually goes down eventhough she takes out Midnighter in the process.

Wolverine / Death sneaks up on Magik who has no idea where he is and impales her using his sword (She has no way to detect him, all of Death's resources are tech based, and he can teleport himself). He then goes to help Brainiac....

    Cable vs. Starhawk

At the same time, Cable and Xavier face off against Starhawk and Overmind. Cable attempts to telepathically disable starhawk while at the same time shielding himself telekinetically and battling against the light constructs starhawk whips up. Telepathically he is blocked as Overmind is shielding him but Cable attempts to overcome it as he fights telekinetically.

    Xavier/Juggernaut vs. Overmind

Xavier, who is wearing his helmet is completely immune to Overmind's telepathic attacks. However Overmind finds he is fighting a defensive battle telepathically as physically he has no effect on Juggernaut whereas the Juggernaut does wear him down. Amazed that he cannot penetrate Xavier's mind he pours more and more energy on his telepathic attack. At the same time he diverts the energy from the protection he gave Starhwk against Cable's telepathic prowess.

    The Uber Match

Eventually, Overmind will loosen his hold on Starhawk as he cannot keep up fighting the Juggernaut (who is immune to his telepathic attacks) both physicaly and mentally as well as protecting Cable from Starhawk. As such as soon as Starhawk looses the mental protection he will go down. And Overmind will not be able to fight both Cable and the Juggernaut. He will have to admit defeat as well as much as it galls him.

    The Remaining Battle

Doom now finds himself fighting 3 mini mon-els, Brainiac 417, and Death. It is a losing batle and due to the overwhelming forces against him he does lose putting an end to the people who dared face the Immortals.

Thanos/Hulk = Classic fight. The city will crumble around them. Using Mimic as an uber is a nice idea, but it would be more effective with Multiple Man's power. And it means he can't be used against LC's regs. AS's lowers should still beat the Chancer's regs. But I don't see how anyone but Thanos is going to take Jordan out since MJ and Shimmer's powers have limited ranges (Hal can just put up a bubble around himself). Could Forge whip something up from a ruined city? I don't think Mimic is powerful enough. And Thanos is stuck fighting Hulk.

I vote for The Immortals. Their strategy made good sense to me. I thought it was smart to use Juggernaut's telepathy-blocking helmet and just have him take down Overmind with physical combat -- where Juggernaut has the advantage. And after Overmind goes down no one is stopping the telepathic duo of Xavier and Cable.

I'll give the other match to In Jesus' Name. Wieg is probably right that Thanos is the only one who can beat Hal, and he can't do that if he's busy with the Hulk. But I see them finding another way to beat the Hulk. Here's how I picture it:

Mimic starts with the powers of Northstar, Colossus, Cyclops, Beast and Wolverine. Or is it Deadpool instead of Beast? I'm not sure what point this Mimic is from. Anyway, he drops Beast or Deadpool's power and takes Mountjoy's. He really wants Shimmer's power, but she's not a mutant so Mimic can't copy her. But I believe Mountjoy can still absorb her. So Mimic absorbs Shimmer into himself, and now he has her power too. This sounds a bit evil for Mimic, but Thanos could use his telepathy to muck with Mimic's personality.

Anyway, once he has Shimmer's power Mimic can use Northstar's superspeed to zip in behind Hulk, and then transmute all the air in his lungs to sleeping gas. Hulk falls asleep, leaving Thanos free to take down Hal Jordan. I think Thanos has the raw power to smash through Jordan's shields, and even if he doesn't, Hal's ring would eventually run out of juice, right? Finally, with the ubers out of the way the remaining regs would fall to Thanos in half a second, if Mimic, Mountjoy, or Forge hadn't already beaten them.

No, but his squad wins on pure lineup strength, I'd say.

1: i've always claimed it as beast, colossus, cyclops, NorthStar and Wolverine...
2: make it simple people. i keep my meds, med..

Thanos being the super-uber mind controller has MJ assimulate Forge and Shimmer, mimic keeps his powers.. no telepaths on his team(telepathy is always figured to be blocked).. o, and moleculear unstable xfactor suites to protect against radiation.

    battle

flying high in the sky(Mimic flying Thanos and MJ using a jet pack(moderate flight speed) that he made of thin-air), MJ creates a scanner that pops out from his jet pack now that can pick up heat from a diameter of 1000ft(something that he would have to install in the xfactor aircraft, but smaller).... they find'm pretty qucik, but Hulk has already jumped into Thanos blowwing them away from Mimic and MJ(GL have better technology and can travel in groups A LOT faster as well)...

Mount Joy(w/Forge and Shimmers powers) and Mimic Vs. Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) (DU), Wolverine (MR), Wild Child (MR) and Husk (MR)

Mimic attacks Jordan as MJ goes for the others.

MJ vs. Wolvy, hush and wildchild

    Reference:

Comming to a run/landing, MJ evaporates all items and forms a duplicated wrist/shield(that incompasses 3ft away from his body) that the normal forge has used before... unable to actually physically touch him, Wolverine is finally hit by MJ's Nullifying gun. Using wolverines fighting skill and "Riding" his(Wolverines) body, MJ is able to assimulate husk and leaves wild child.(Mj keep riding Wolverines body for his adamantium skeleton andd superior fitness(something Forge and Thanos thought up)... MJ turns to:

    Mimic vs. GL

yes, i know how powerful GLs are., but you definitely have to also realize that having Cyclops' eye beams, Wolverine healing/claws/senses, colossus enhanced durability/strength, NorthStar Speed(which also increases his strength and durability)/light attack and Beasts strength/agility/senses makes mimic a very tough man as well(he won't be able to REALLY damage GL but i'm sure he can take up a lot of GL time.... Until Mj sees Mimic is against the wall which then Mj has had the time to walk around forming a cannon that BLASTS GL away from Mimic(which is the sign that MJ has won his front and its time for mimic to borrow but not copy/keep MJ powers to rejuvinate hiimself by "riding" Wild Child and then jumping back out(knocking Wild Child out of the game))

Ring: 58%(Both MJ and Mimic at 100%)

Hal: Wow! Your beginners cannon blew a whole 2% off my battery!

MJ: Yea, but my friend managed to take 40% of your power before he just rejuvinated himself and I joined the battle...

Laughing, Hal: sounds like the odds are stacked in my favor!.

after they fight for a minute or so, Thanos is Finally able to land a HUMONGOUS punch that sends Hulk filying to the mid of thier action as well...

    Telepathically, Thanos: MJ get him!

leaving the battle, MJ flies(reforming his Jet pack once again) directly to the hulk, who is buried in the rubble of the rubble of an abandoned building that used to be a bodagas(nothing stops Mj from getting to the hulk as all debris is evaporates around him)... knowing its futile to actually "ride" the hulk, MJ "jumps" into him only using his life force to replinish his-own.(The hulk and Thanos has been going at it for a while now. Both Thanos AND the Hulk are worn down and with this manuver, the hulk is affective knocked out)..

    Ring: 55%

Finally "Jumping" out of wolverines body, Mj instructed by Thanos himself(who knows its a small sacrifice for a win), willingly lets MJ "ride" his body, effectively having a semi-twinked-fully replinished Thanos on the battle ground....
